08:25:17: Movers have been and gone. Switched out green chair for red chair at last minute, bc red chair had unsuspected tear in upholstery.

10:16:49: Furniture arrived at apartment, movers paid and gone, father and son now engaged in driving one another crazy doing inventory fr apartment.

Movers....

Movers' GPS sent them to the wrong corner in this town...I had sent careful directions and even photos...they were only one block off, though.  Went out to street and waved them in.

They came, they dismantled, they loaded, they left.   R- also left, with a load of stuff in his car.   I will probably go down today, though I'd hoped not to, to help.  R- forgot to take with him the chart of where things should go in the apartment.   Movers will probably get there first, even though they left 10 m...

He's There: We're Here

The move-in went smoothly (though with too many trips up the stairs with boxes and pillows and stuff in hand for the older persons involved.  The out-of-shape older persons, who live in a one-story house in a town that has maybe three or four two-story buildings and that's it.)  Tomorrow the furniture will be moved, not by us.   The stronger of the older persons was heard to admit that he was very glad he wasn't going to be humping the bed, table, heavy-big-desk-with-hutch, and heavy red...

Saturday: Packing Still

Given that we're moving just one individual into a one-bedroom apartment, you'd think it wouldn't take this long, wouldn't you? 

HA!  That's because you haven't tried packing up a young man for his first solo venture into independent living.

10:50:35: Move work: all pots, pans, dishes packed. Some food packed. Big desk unloaded (stuff in cubbies & drawers.) Rocker moved. Whew!

Friday: More Move Prep

So....we've been working on getting M- packed up all week, bit by bit, and as of today it looks just possible we'll be almost-nearly on time.   "It ain't pretty, but it runs..."  is about the size of the preparation process.  

I'm now realizing what I spared my mother when I went in the military and they sent movers to pack and pick up what she sent when I finally had an apartment.   For one thing, she didn't send me any kitchen stuff--I bought a very basic set (and knew I'd get wedding...
