Genreality

This week the Genreality authors are on a break, so I'm sort of floating out some tidbits and questions to keep things interesting in a casual way. Drop by and say hi, you never know what you might find….plus, I get lonely when no one drops by.

Merry Christmas

This is just a small scene, nothing super fantastic, but it's a warm holiday dinner scene full of love and family. It's one of my favorites, so I thought I'd share.

From PRIMAL MALE:

Drake Wheeler leaned back in his chair and surveyed the crowd of people around the dinner table, contentment lay heavy in his soul. It was Christmas and the room was full of cheer.

Only a year ago, being around this many people, even ones he loved, would have driven him slightly crazy. But not anymore.

"Are you full, Drake? Angel made dessert so I hope you saved some room." Gina said as she rested her hand on her hugely rounded belly.

Devlin strode into the room, cocky grin in place and shooting off the contentment vibe like a firecracker.

"Cheesecake or apple pie," Jewel said from across the table. "I don't know how I'm going to choose between the two."

Nadya looked up from her plate of turkey dinner. "I plan on having a piece of each."

Melissa grinned at her. "As you should. Shifting burns a lot of calories, and now that you've made your connection with your spirit animal, I know you'll be shifting all the time."

Warmth seeped into Drake's veins and flowed through his system as he listened to the group continue. Caleb got up from the table and went for another bottle of wine, kissing his wife's cheek and murmuring something in her ear before he came back. Gina's cheeks turned pink and Drake chuckled. It was a rare thing for Gina to blush. Caleb was good for her, and so was the babe in her belly.

And being surrounded by them was good for Drake. It was only when he was with those closest to him that he could relax his mental shields and let himself believe what he felt was real.

He had a lot more control over his shields now that he had Melissa in his life. When he was with her, they were on equal footing. No mystical, paranormal, or psychic powers that would let one know what the other was thinking or feeling. They had to talk, to communicate like ordinary people, and he loved it. He loved her.

He fingered the marquis cut emerald ring in his jeans pocket and his gut clenched. Deep down he knew she would say yes, but there was still that touch of uncertainty. And even that was wonderful, because he was actually feeling it.

"You gonna finally ask her tonight?"

Drake looked down, hiding a grimace at Nadya's smirk.

"You think I should?" He asked. "She's your sister, you've spent a lot of time together in the past year, almost more than she and I have since you spent all summer in Chadwick. Do you think she'll say yes?"

The seventeen-year-old woman looked him straight in the eye. "If she doesn't I'll kick her ass. You two belong together."

Drake threw back his head and laughed loudly. Christ, life was good!

Books I read last week.

Urban Shaman (Walker Papers, #1)Urban Shaman by C.E. Murphy

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is one of those books/series I kept seeing in the department store and thinking that the cover looked cool., but I've learned to be picky about the urban fantasy stories I pick up because I simply haven't loved them all. This one however, I finally gave in an bought, and I loved it. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series. Can;t wait to see what happens next.

The Immortals (Taylor Jackson Series #5)The Immortals by J.T. Ellison

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Picked this one up at the library.

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it or not because it's book 5 in the Taylor Jackson series and I haven't read any of the others. Sometimes jumping into a series in the middle isn't fun. But J.T. Ellison did a great job with it, and I never once felt lost despite numerous references to things that had happened to the detective and her crew previously. The story was well written, and the characters were well done. I also enjoyed the main mystery of it even though I I figured almost all of it out before the detectives did. What I didn't enjoy, and why I knocked it back to 3 stars was the secondary storyline with her fiancee and his memory flashes and stuff. (That's all I'll say so I don't spoil anything)

Amanda Feral's Debut

The Question of this week was about what sort of characters do you prefer, ordinary, or extraordinary?

Thanks fro your answers everyone. And in return for giving your opinion, I have a prize for you.

Thanks to the random number generator CHARLENE TEGLIA, you win a free download of Amanda Feral's debut book. While the book is about an ordinary woman, her kink isn't so ordinary. Check it out…

Stocking Full Of Coal

by Amanda Feral

A Merry Kinkmas story from Ellora's Cave

Justine Crenshaw is accident-prone. On purpose. It's the bruises…she can't live without them, without the pleasure and pain that closely bind her sexuality to her secret obsession. She chooses men who accept her fetish, who seek it out for their own dark designs, even if they don't understand it. She accepts that. Justine doesn't need them for anything but a little bruise pressure during down-and-dirty sex.

Then she meets Nathan, and her heart starts demanding more than her compulsions provide. She can't hide her body from him forever, can't keep him in the dark, literally. But no "normal" guy could possibly understand her multi-colored kink…could he? It might be time for Justine to shine a light on her fetish and find out.

READ AN EXCERPT

Now, not only does the blurb totally sell this book for me, but I happen to know that Amanda Feral is the creation of Mark Henry. Mark started us on a journey with Amanda with HAppy Hour OfThe Damned, and kept on going. Now Amanda's created kinky christmas story that I'm sure is to be funny as well as steamy, and with no doubt what-so-ever…original. I can't wait to read this myself, and I hope you all check it out too.

SS: Vacation- All I Ever Wanted

This Weeks Snippet theme is vacations…and when I heard that, this scene from MY PREROGATIVE immediately jumped into my mind. I've written a few vacation sex scenes/stories, and I always enjoy them. This one is just a short one, but

There are few things more enjoyable than lying naked on a sandy beach under a hot sun. Especially in a foreign country where no one knows me and I'm free do whatever, and whomever, I want.

Kelsey Howard, footloose and fancy free, answerable to no one. That was me.

Being single and adventurous made me the envy of many, and I had to admit, there were times when even I thought my life was blessed.

Cute as a kid, pretty as a girl, and then beautiful as a woman.

I do believe people see that when they look at me. I have to believe it, I've heard it my whole life. And on some days, I can even look in the mirror and see it. The problem is that I don't always feel that way. I have a hole inside that needs to be filled, and despite the fact that I know filling it with food, drinks, and casual sex isn't good, or smart . . . I still do it. I can't stop myself. It's the only way I know to fill that emptiness.

So really? Is it wrong if it makes me feel better? Even if it's just for a little while?

Rising up a bit from my supine position on the beach, my elbows dug comfortably into the sand. I lounged in the heat of the Mediterranean sun and tracked the approach of my companion from behind dark sunglasses. Nope, nothing wrong with it at all.

Ocean water glistened over his bulging muscles as they rippled with every move he made. Hair slicked back and eyes intent on me, he prowled up the beach. Yeah, he was definitely prowling, and I was woman enough to appreciate it.

One of the few things I enjoy in life more than lying on a beach is lying under a well-built man. Both at once was a fantasy I was determined to finally have come true.

Marco was his name, and I'd met him at the hotel bar on my second night here. The all-inclusive resort we were at encouraged hedonistic behavior and after the first night spent watching everyone let loose, I was more than ready for my own sensual adventure. I'd almost given up hope of finding someone I could click with when he'd introduced himself and the sparks flew. Marco had proven to be very adventurous himself – a wonderful choice for my holiday fling.

I took a pull of tequila from the bottle I'd grabbed from the room's mini-bar and a familiar tingle awoke low in my belly. Marco drew closer and I spread my legs a little wider, knowing he wouldn't be able to avoid the temptation I presented.

Sure enough, hunger sparked in his dark eyes and he dropped to his knees at my feet. Large masculine hands cupped my bent knees and slid up my thighs, sending more tingles through my system.

"Hello there, stranger," I said softly.

His teeth flashed in a predatory smile and he began crawling up and over my body until his mouth hovered over mine. "You look good enough to eat," he said.

I looked to the left and saw no one, and then to the right. There was a couple about fifty yards down the beach, roasting themselves on a blanket and minding their own business, so I lifted my arms and pulled him down on top of me. "So what's stopping you?"

He chuckled and kissed me hungrily. He tasted faintly of tequila and saltwater from the ocean, so I opened up and enjoyed the way our tongues rubbed together. The cool friction heated my blood and made my sex clench in anticipation. The nude beach we were on was part of the private resort where anything goes, and in that instant I made the decision to live up to my reputation as a wild child and enjoy every second of it.

I tilted my head back, and Marco took the hint, nuzzling his way down my neck. The sound of waves rhythmically lapping at the shore became an erotic symphony as he cupped my breasts and flicked the jeweled hoops there back and forth.

"So pretty," he crooned. He wrapped his lips around one nipple and sucked hard, his tongue pulling at the piercing.

"Harder," I urged him. A little pain always heightened the pleasure.

He complied and my hips jerked in response. Yes.

I slid my hands into his hair and nudged him lower. Eager to please, Marco slithered down my body until his talented mouth was hovering over my greedy cunt. His hands cupped my ass, lifting me as his tongue came out and flicked the jeweled hoop that pierced the protective hood of my clit. A sigh of pleasure slipped from between my lips and I pressed him closer.

Sometimes fantasies do come true.

TGIF

It's Friday, and I'm hoping to have a great weekend. I have a HUGE To Do List, but I'm always better under pressure. SOme of the stuff is writing oriented, some f it isn't, but all of it is geared towards making it easier for me to write in the future.

I asked a Question of the Day on Monday, and have a prize to give away today as a result. Chosen randomly from the commenters, Carol B winds a copy of PLEASURE'S EDGE by EVE BERLIN.

It's a debut novel for Eve, who also happens to be Eden Bradley, writing under another name. While I haven't read this one, I have read plenty of Eden's stories, and I LOVE THEM… and I have no doubt this one is just as good, if not better (as she only seems to get better with each story).

CHeck it out below.

Carol, use the CONTACT button here to email me your snail mail address so I can send you your prize! Oh, and yes, I'm writing again, not sure if it'll be an novel or novella yet though. ;)

Pleasure's Edge

by Eve Berlin

pleasuresedge

How do you know…

For beautiful erotica author Dylan Ivory, being in control is everything. Growing up in a dysfunctional home, she raised her younger brother–right up to the day he died in a motorcycle accident. Since then, she has lived a life of perfect order, leaving nothing to chance. Then she met the man who was everything she was not…and everything she wanted.

How far you can go…

Alec Walker is a writer of dark psychological thrillers–and a man who lives for thrills. From motorcycles to snowboards to swimming with sharks, there's no end to his lust for excitement. His tastes extend into the bedroom as well, and into The Pleasure Dome, the local BDSM club where he lets no rules bind his desires. The only thing he truly fears is love, and allowing someone else to really know him…

Unless you go over the edge?

While researching a book on sexual extremes, Dylan interviews Alec–and longs to taste the temptation he offers. But he's a self-proclaimed dominant and she refuses to surrender control. Slowly and seductively, though, Alec shows her that by letting go and submitting to his every desire she can experience the ultimate pleasure. But to keep the woman who for the first time brings him to his knees , can Alec take the ultimate risk and surrender his heart?

"Readers are going to feel the burn just turning the pages in Berlin's BDSM-heavy story. Her characters are strong, the plot tight, the sex hot and, better than all that, her wrap-up is perfect…" ~RT Book Reviews-4 ½ Stars!

"Rarely do you find an author so adept at creating evocative characters and weaving them into a lush, sensual world. Eve Berlin is a stunning talent!"~Crystal Jordan, author of UNTAMED and ON THE PROWL

"Amazing. Eve Berlin is now officially on my must read list… PLEASURE'S EDGE is a fast-paced, sensual spicy ride with complex characters that are a joy to get to know… a masterpiece of character development… an absolutely satisfying ride." ~The Romance Reviews

Thought for the day

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the most of everything that comes their way

I'm truly blessed by those I love and those who love me and it's at this time of year I like to reflect on the people and feelings that fill my life.

My parents – They brought me into this world, taught me the values I live by and how hard work and perseverance pay off. They taught me humility and love, equipped me with an education and off I went out into a big scary world, knowing they would always be my safety net.

My children – They taught me that I have one heart big enough to love more than one child. I learned patience and understanding and was blessed with more love than I could have ever imagined. Now they're bringing me grandchildren…

My husband – Has taught me respect and the need for open communication, the art of negotiation and the value of forgiveness. He's my island in the storm, my strength when I feel defeated and my love when I feel alone.

My friends – They are there when I need them, they share my joy, my sorrow and my frustrations unconditionally. They fill me with laughter and hope.

Myself – I figured you thought I'd forgotten that thought for the day. I learned a long time ago, that no one can make you happy. You have to make yourself happy, no matter the circumstances. Things don't make you happy. People don't make you unhappy. You have to search for and find the happiness in everything and embrace it.

Have you found your happiness today?

Myla's novella BODY SNATCHERS comes out today, Dec 3rd, at Ellora's Cave.
