SS: Transplant

This week's theme is "Fight" and I had a hard time choosing an excerpt. Some of my favorite characters like to fight. LOL Anyway, I chose this excerpt because I'm working on editing this story right now. It's from TRANSPLANT, the sequel to ABDUCTION, which was my first sci-fi story. The two are short stories, that were published by Amber Quill Press back in 2005 and 2006. For a short while I had them out as free reads, but I've decided hey, why not use them to do another Kindle experiment.

The 2 stories will be packaged together, with an awesome cover that I'll unveil next week, and then I'll get the stories formatted and hopefully published shortly.

That said, I hope this opening scene from TRANSPLANT intrigues you enough to want to pick up the Mavericks Of Space anthology.

Breathing hard, adrenaline flowing, and heart pounding, Max Cooper eyed the incensed alien in front of him. Her petite height and delicate features might fool some people into underestimating her, but not him. He saw the controlled tightness of her lean muscles as she slowly circled him; her eyes darkening and her skin glowing almost silver and he knew she was preparing to spring at him.

At least she wasn't wearing her usual assortment of weapons.

Then again, the weapons never distracted him as much as the perky breasts and ripe nipples that were on display right now. The second he glanced at them again, he knew he'd made a mistake. Before he could blink, she was on him. Literally.

Firm thighs wrapped around his waist and damp heat rubbed against his belly. He caught hold of her tiny waist and stumbled. Turning, he stepped forward and pinned her to the inner wall of the spaceship, his body instantly going from fight mode to fuck mode.

"Mine, Max," she growled. "You are mine, and I am not willing to share."

"Yet you expect me to share you. It doesn't work like that, Tyla." Gripping her ass cheeks, he hefted her higher and pressed his forehead against hers as he fought for control. "If you want me to share you with other transplants, you have to accept that other Tritons will want me, and I have no reason to say no to them."

"You have the right to say no to anyone!"

"But if you're having sex with others, why shouldn't I?" He tangled one hand in the dark curtain of her hair and tugged back her head so he could meet her gaze.

Her bright green eyes flashed with fire, full of turmoil and passion.

"But I am Triton! I am used to sexual freedom!" Her thighs tightened around his waist, pulling him so close that the only thing keeping him from entering her was the flimsy material of his drawstring pants.

"So what?" The strength of his emotions surprised Max. "I'm human, and I agreed to stay on board this ship, and be transplanted on a whole different planet—for you!"

The flare of jealousy when he'd seen one of the other transplants put his hands on Tyla had been like a knife to the heart. It hadn't mattered that it had been a Durian and he knew she had absolutely no interest in sex with one. All that had mattered was another man had put his hand on her, and instead of cutting it off at the wrist like she should have, she'd just smiled.

He'd never been a possessive man before. Then again, he'd never been in love before.

Unable to handle the new emotions rumbling around in his gut, he'd done what any normal guy would do. He'd ignored them, and tried to distract himself by flirting with the nearest female. Most normal guys, however, wouldn't find themselves instantly transported to the captain's quarters of a spaceship to face off with a naked and angry alien, Captain Tyla Natori.

His abductor.

His sponsor.

The woman he'd agreed to give up life on Earth for.

SS: My Prerogative.

This weeks theme is a Dark Moment. I chose to put this snippet up because it's one of my favorit scene. Kelsey thinks that men only want to see the pretty and fun part of her, but Harlan is about to show her different.

He was an idiot.

If she'd wanted his company she would've answered the phone. His brain knew that, yet Harlan had been unable to not head over to Kelsey's place when he'd seen her sitting on her balcony looking so alone with only her bottle for company.

She'd worn that lost look before and he'd wanted to go to her then, but he hadn't. He'd been a stranger watching her in a private moment. But he knew her now, and he wasn't going to sit by and watch while she was hurting. Not when he could help her.

Impatient, he pushed the buzzer for her apartment again, eyeing the security lock on the main door and wondering if he could pick it. The door finally clicked, unlocking loudly in the silence of the early morning. He jerked it open and took the stairs two at a time to the second floor where Kelsey waited just inside her open door. He didn't say anything, just passed by her and entered the apartment.

They stood there in the entrance hallway, silently looking at one another for a moment as the tension built. She looked beautiful. Long silky hair, curvy body made to cushion a man, and an untamed wildness in her green hunters eyes that knocked the breath right out of him.

Breaking their gaze, she drained the last of her drink and finally spoke. "What?"

"Bad night?"

She shrugged, still trying hide from him, and probably herself too. "Would you like a drink?"

"No," he said, catching her wrist as she tried to get past. "And I don't think you need another one either."

She glared up at him, her lips twisting in a near sneer. "Yeah? What do you think I need?"

She'd asked him that once before, and he'd answered from the heart. This time words weren't going to do it.

"You need me," he said, then lowered his head and covered her mouth with his.

She tried to pull back, but he was having none of it. Stepping forward, he pinned her to the wall with his body and thrust his tongue between her lips roughly – claiming her as his, showing her he could give her what she needed.

Kelsey was a deeply sexual creature and she used it not only to hide behind when she felt vulnerable, but as a release when needed. He'd seen it. He could also see she needed a big release right then, and gentle coddling wasn't going to give it to her.

The empty glass fell from her hand as she tried to wiggle away, but he grabbed her other wrist and pinned them both to the wall above her head. Her gasp sent heat ripping through him and he shoved a leg between her thighs, giving her something to squirm against.

She nipped at him with sharp little teeth and he scraped his across her jaw line in return. Breathy moans filled his ears as he nibbled down the bare skin of her neck to bite the muscle just above her shoulder. She moaned and her hips jerked.

One of her legs lifted and wrapped around his waist, pulling him closer at the same time as she tugged at his grip on her wrists.

She needed more.

Covering her mouth once again he trapped both of her wrists in one hand and used the other to pull her dress up. Shoving her panties aside he thrust a finger into her wetness and started to fuck her.

She thrashed against him, twisting her head away and moaning as her hips rocked in time with his movements. Her moans turned to whimpers, not quite words, but almost pleading.

"What was that?" he asked. "Tell me what you need, Kelsey."

She moaned and kicked her heels against the back of his legs, but her hips only thrust harder against his hand.

"C'mon, Kelsey. Tell me, baby. Tell me what you need and I'll give it to you. Anything."

"More," she growled. "Give me more, damnit!"

He added another finger and bit the curve of her breast through her dress. Blood pounded through him, heating everything inside to the point where his own control was threatened. But he wouldn't lose it. She needed him, she needed this. She needed to feel safe losing control with him.

He thrust his fingers in deeper, rougher, and the heel of his hand rubbing her jewelry against her clit. "Let go, Kelsey," he growled into her ear. "Let go and trust me."

She pulled and tugged at her wrists and he let go, pinning her to the wall with the weight of his body as she pushed at his shoulders, wrapping her legs around his hips at the same time. She pulled him closer then pushed against him as her cunt clenched around his fingers and she came.

Kelsey continued to move against him restlessly, ducking her head and avoiding his gaze. He pulled his hand from under her dress and lifted it to cup her chin.

"No," she whispered.

"Yes," he said. He forced her head back until he could see her face. But her eyes were closed. "Open your eyes, Kelsey. See me, the way I see you."

Chest tight, he waited for her.

Slowly, her lids lifted until they were staring at one another. Seeing one another. "That's my girl," he murmured. "I don't like it when you hide from me."

Her lips parted, and she breathed deeply, but she remained silent. Harlan could still see the wildness in her, and he could see she was fighting it.

Releasing her chin he tamped down his own desire and took a step back. He trailed his fingers over her parted lips, knowing she'd smell herself on him. When her tongue snuck out and licked at the digit heat shot to his dick and he groaned.

"Don't ever be scared of me, Kelsey. And don't be shy. I can see all of you and I welcome every dark, dirty and greedy part." He smiled. "And I can match them."

* * * * *

"MY PREROGATIVE is the perfect title to explore this intense tale of a naughty woman seeking love, but refusing to settle for the wrong man in her life… Ms. White grasped the concept of a woman's needs and weaved a wonderful tale of realization. MY PREROGATIVE is an insightful and thought provoking page turner that I know you'll enjoy." —NightOwl Romance

4 STARS! "White proves again that she's a force to be reckoned with. It continues White's tales of love and lust in Vancouver. In Kelsey, the author has created a mature, fully developed character who is unapologetic about her sexuality and desires but is vulnerable in her desire to find a soul mate. While this book is a stand-alone, it is loosely related to White's previous titles Bound, Trouble and Wicked." — RT BOOKreviews

"Sasha White keeps her characters real and her storyline true with plenty of hot-n-steamy, I-need-a-fan kind of relationships. Her books are always fun and exciting, and this one is no different. I loved it!!" —Fresh Fiction.com

Friday 56- A Mammoth one

Friday 56 thanks to Shiloh Walker

The book closest ot me at this moment is this one…

Luckily, the two other class keeners immediately dive into a lively banter on Eliot's use of melopoeia. I don't even hear what they are saying. Professor M's tongue is increasing it's pressure, dancing a wild rhyhtm on my clit.

Grab the book nearest you. Right now

Turn to page 56.

Find the fifth sentence.

Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of this blog.

Post a link along with your post back to this blog.

Don't dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Self-editing.

I'm taking a self-editing workshop. Not only do I need the grammar help, but I like to learn. Anyways, one of the notes in the class is about reading your work aloud, which I've heard many times before, and have even done. But this time it was mentioned that computers also do text to speech if you want to just listen. SO I thought hey, I want to try that. After figuring out how it works, I listened to the opening scene in one story, which worked good. But then I wanted to see if I could get that feature to work in Scrivener, so I flipped over to my current WIP, and tried it, It was on a page with just rough notes, but man it had me laughing…really.

Now I'm wondering if I'm the only one who burst out laughing when they listened to the computer read some of thier story.

Maybe it's the scene, but it just made me laugh to hear the computer modulated voice say

"Damn she's fine, he thought to himself. But fuck she pissed him off.

Hate to see her leave, but love to watch her walk away."

Makes me very interested to hear it read a sex scene.

A Good Night.

So, after shovelling snow all weekend-seriously, I'm not exagerating, take at a look at this picture of our sidewalk from Saturday morning…just before it started snowing again..

Dec 11 snow_0015

(And yes, I have a snowblower too, but when the snowdrifts are bigger than the machine, a shovel is needed as well. LOL )

Anyway, after shoveling snow all weekend the last thing I wanted to do was go to our staff christmas party on Sunday night. I just wanted to curl up in bed with my new wireless keyboard and start my short story. However, because we in the hospitality industry tend to work during the holidays and serve everyone else having parties, we have our party in later…like the first week of January or so. Despite not being real enthusiastic I went to-and had so much fun!

This was just a casual thing for us. We closed the restaurant and bar at 8pm, and had a pot-luck party. To understand why this was so awesome you have to understand that the place I work at is a true melting pot of cultures. What was there for meals you ask…let me tell you.

All homemade:

Meatballs

Mac and cheese

Butter chicken & nan bread

Spring rolls

Curry Chicken & Roti

Ratatouille

Devilled Eggs

Chips and Hummas

Cheese and Bacon Dip

Crab Dip

French Bread

That was dinner.

Desserts..OH MY LORD!

Cheesecake

Mango Crepes

S'mores

Pumpkin pie.

*grin*

And after eating we played pool, drank, sang and dance. It was all very casual because we chose to do it this way instead of going somewhere or having it catered, and this was great. It was time for us all to be out of uniform, and together and chat. It didn't matter if you were cook, dishwasher, bartender or manager, we were all just out to have fun. It worked. And I have to say one of the other bartenders, Rhonda, and I made a very good pool team. We kicked ass. *grin*

Despite not getting my story done, it was good night, and even the weekend wasn't that bad, it just went to fast. Then again, doesn't every weekend?

Snippet: LUSH

Sorry I'm late, I was up until 3 AM shoveling snow, then up and at it again this morning so people could get out of our parking lot. And…it's still snowing. LOL

*sigh* Only people who live where it never snows thinks winter/snow is romantic or fun.

Anyway, enough about me and my shoveling exercise (And yes, I am thinking of winter as an exercise program. How can I not when I took a look at the three feet walls that line our sidewalk and think"Hey I should go get my camera and take a picture." Only to realize I had absolutely no energy left to do it. LOL

SOrry, got off topic once again.

Back to the fact that it's Saturday and that means it's excerpt time.

Todays theme is Music, so here's an excerpt from Passion Play in the LUSH anthology.

This scene take place just a little ways in, after Mia accidentally plows right into Dom in the park, then kisses him before strolling off. Yes, she's a bit of a free spirit. *grin* Dom walks into one of his favorit bars and sees her on the dancefloor. Check it out.

It only took one look.

My gut clenched and my blood heated in instant recognition. The way she moved, the way the flashing lights made her hair look like it was alive with fire. It was definitely her. The woman who had run over me only hours earlier and then walked away.

The woman whose kiss I could not get off of my mind.

Propping my elbow on the bar, I ignored the obvious interest from the blonde cutie five feet away and watched my mystery woman dance. She was sleek and sensual, every movement striking a sexual cord deep within me. Her small breasts jiggled, her hips circled, and her skirt rose up on strong muscular thighs with each gyration. But it was her face that captured me the most.

Her eyes closed, she danced in her own world with the music. She lifted the hair off the back of her neck then let it fall, one hand stretching up while the other trailed over the gleaming skin of her neck and collarbone. I watched her suck a full bottom lip between little white teeth and swivel her hips again.

She looked like she was fucking someone. Like it was someone else's hands running over her body, putting that expression of pure pleasure on her face.

Blood flowed south and my cock swelled and pressed against my zipper. She needed a dance partner, no woman like that should be alone.

I reached back and set my barely-touched beer down before pushing off from the bar. Only to see another guy move in on her.

Fuck!

The newcomer was just a kid, barely twenty-one. Something ugly settled in my gut. I'd gotten a pretty good look at her up close and she had to be closer to thirty. It couldn't be her date, but she hadn't pulled away from the kid, and the way they moved together to the music said she wasn't running from him.

"Hey Jimmy," I called the bartender over. "You know her?"

Jimmy looked in the direction I was watching and grinned knowingly. "Who Mia? Yeah, I know her."

I gave him a look. "Well?"

"What do you want to know?"

"Everything you know. What's her story?"

"Not much, man. Mia's an open book, but those pages are blank."

No way. "You mean she's a bimbo?"

"No!" Jimmy shook his head and waved off the other bartender. "I mean she's open, friendly and just a bit wild on the outside. But she keeps the rest hidden. She'll show you anything and do almost anything on a dare, but she doesn't tell you what she thinks or feels."

Interesting. "Show you anything?"

"Yeah, she's got a few piercing's and tatt's. If you ask, she'll show you. She's not shy, just…private."

We both watched her bump and grind on the dance floor and saw when the young guy tried to run his hand up from her hip to her breast. We also saw when her hand covered his and she bent his finger back so far the kid's knees buckled.

Without looking at the kid, she stepped away and kept dancing.

"She's certainly not your type, dude."

My muscles tensed and I glared at the bartender. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Hey man, no insult intended." He held up his hands. "I just meant you usually have the perfect little prep chicks hanging off you. Mia might be more than even Nick at Night can handle."

"Don't bet on it," I muttered and headed for the dance floor.

Before I could reach it, a hand with red tipped fingernails landed in the middle of my chest and the stacked blonde from the bar was standing in front of me.

"I know you," she said.

"No, I don't think we've met." I looked over her shoulder to see Mia still alone. Impatience crept up on me. She wouldn't be alone for long.

"You're Nick Jamison, from Nick at Night." She stepped closer, making it hard not to look down her dress. "I'm a fan."

No woman was a fan of mine. Some were tolerant, but generally I got hate mail from women with boyfriends that were fans of mine. I looked into the blonde's sharp green eyes and knew immediately what she was up to. After years of having people trying to beg, bribe or bully me for a mention in my column, I recognized the signs easily.

I pasted a gentle smile on my face and tried to step around her. "Honey, whatever you want mentioned in my column, you can forget it."

She moved with me. "But I'd be willing to pay for the shout out. However you prefer." She trailed one of her claws across my jaw and I pulled my head back.

"It doesn't work that way. Besides, I quit today so there is no more Nick at Night."

With that I stepped around her and made a beeline for Mia.

"Within the pages of LUSH, you will discover 3 sensual tales that will have you laughing, crying and grabbing for a fan to cool off. Ms. White does an excellent job penning these short stories to read like full length novels. The characterization, imagery and intriguing plots will keep you mesmerized until you have finished the last page." – Billie Jo, reviewer for Romance Junkies

The Weekend

This weekend is not my weekend for relaxing. It started this morning with finding out I mixed up the deadline on the domain registration for Genreality from the 6th to the 9th, and the site was down. I got on it right away and it was fixed within 15 minutes, but it was down first thing this morning when most people do their surfing, and I'm hoping they'll check back.

Next on the list was caretaker things.. Yes, snowing again…and the forecast is for another foot and a half this weekend. YAY. more exercise for me with the shovel.

Other things on the to do list.

* clean apartment

* vacuum condo building

* Edit photos from December shoot

* Put together Snippet Saturday post for tomorrow.

* Write 12k short story for anthology with 2 friends that readers will love.

* Rewrite Blurb for Kindle book MEANDROS so it's not so depressing. :(

* Staff party at the bar on Sunday night. YAY!

I like being busy.

What do you want?

So yesterday was my weekly post at Genreality and I blogged about rejection, and a recent one I got. If you read the whole post you'll understand why I'm going to try and do more workshops and articles here on my own site. With that in mind, I'd like to know what sort of workshops you're interested in.

So, tell me…what do you want to see articles or workshops on? If it's a subject that I personally don't feel capable of tackling, I'll see what I can do about finding someone who can, and getting them to come here…so throw me some suggestions. :)

Start the year off right

2011 Has arrived!

Have you got everything you need to make 2011 a great year? Personally, I got a few things that I think will help me stay on track this year.

A good attitude is the first item on my list. Kristen Lambs Guest Post at Genreality last week reminded me of just how important our own thought process is to achieving my goals. I signed up for the ZEN page-a-day email calendar. It came just after midnight tonight, and made me grin. It wasn't a super zen saying, and I'm sure they won't all hit me between the eyes, but they will remind me that I need to work at being more positive in my mind and thoughts and not just in what I say.

I'm set to read a lot more because I bought myself an iPad. :)

It was tough choice between a Kindle and the iPad, but apple won out for me. Now I just have to remember to not play the games when I should be doing something else.

The other big thing I have to help me get and stay on track this year? A Keurig one cup coffee maker. you see, I'm new to drinking coffeee. I only started in August because when Delilah Devlin and I were on a writing retreat I decided to try and quick my pop habit. She made me coffee each morning, and I drank it. I lasted three days until I gave in and went to the store for some cola. Since then I've been slowly trying to replace pop with coffee in my daily drinking, but I've been having trouble. I hate making a pot because every pot tastes different and half the time I drink a cup then four hours later have to dump half the pot and make more so I can have another half decent cup. I asked for a one-cup coffee maker for christmas, and as my family would love ot see me quit the pop habit-never mind that I'm the only one in my family who doesn't drink coffee- I got one. And you know what? I love it! I also love the fact that because it was bought at Costco that it came with 90 k-cups, of all brands and flavours so I can find what I like best. This will help me health wise because I can give up the pop habit and still get my caffiene, and also because -I admit it- I feel a bit more like an adult, and a writer, with a cup of coffee on my desk instead of a coke. How silly is that?

Whatever, it's what's in my mind that effects what I do, right?

The other day I asked about resolutions or no…today I'm telling you I have one resolution…to be more positive about myself…all aspects of myself. That means to stop obsessing about my weight, or the fact that I had such a hard time getting back into writing lately. Instead I'm going to focus on how great I feel now, to acknowledge the things I love about myself, and to focus on the joy of writing. That's not to say it will always be easy. It's not, I know that, but I am going to focus on the good, and not the bad or hard. And I have to admit, Unit this past week I never realized just how much starting the day with a good cup of coffee helps with that.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
