Coming soon, from the Commonwealth and Writers Exchange!

I'm delighted to report that soon -- once we work out all the details -- Writers Exchange, the publisher of most of my Commonwealth Universe SF stories, will start publishing SERIALIZED stories.

Every other month -- hopefully -- you'll be able to download a novella, in two different series.
Originally, The Meruk Episodes were released in 5-story collections. Starting with Episode 11, TRUTH, you'll be able to read one story at a time and find out what our favorite shape-shifter is doing as he searches the planet Gemar for other Hoveni and tries to create a network of support and safety for a race that has been living in hiding for centuries.
PLUS ... well, zombies are so popular (though I have NO idea why) -- how about a series of stories about people ... umm ... "borrowing" recently deceased bodies?
In the Virtually Dead series, you'll read about Caspya, a sentinel and designated protector for a team of Khybor scientists who have been sleeping through the centuries, buried far underground when their research colony was attacked during the Downfall Wars. Now, with the rise of the Commonwealth, the rebuilding of the lost colony is threatening their power supplies and possibly destroying their life support tubes. The only way Caspya can make contact with the "waking world" and protect the people under her protection is to extend her consciousness into the recently deceased in an effort to make contact with the modern world.
I don't have exact dates, but keep checking back here or at Writers Exchange for updates. We're talking about subscriptions, so you'll get automatic delivery of the next installment in each series and won't have to worry about missing one. And other goodies for loyal readers! But sssshhhhh, don't tell my publisher I told you so!

So happy birthday to the best, and weirdest, and funnest (yes, it IS a word, at least today) brother I ever had!

What's Happening in Tabor Heights, Ohio?

Check out the Tabor Heights Today blog for an excerpt from FIRESONG -- what happened on this date, June 27, in the mythical town of Tabor Heights?
News!!!
I'm nearly done with A BOX OF PROMISES, the 5th book in Year Two of the Tabor Heights books. It'll be a VERY interesting summer with five dorm friends/sisters from Butler-Williams University -- summer camp, VBS, short-term missions project, working at the local newspaper, and working at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Summer is never dull for these good friends, who want to do something meaningful ... and maybe fall in love.
Even if they don't write down that particular goal for the summer, it's there, in their hearts.
What will their summer bring? Check back here or on the Tabor Heights blog for information on A BOX OF PROMISES when it's about to be released. Or for sneak peeks!!

THE HUNT: Book 4 -- FINDERS, KEEPERS

Today, Writer's Exchange released the 4th book in the YA fantasy/SF series: THE HUNT.
FINDERS, KEEPERS is Iris' story. Unlike the other members of the Hunt you've met so far, she doesn't look forward to the gathering of the Hunt and returning to their homeworld. Iris likes it right where she is, living on Smokeytop Mountain, helping her adopted parents run their lodge, outfitting hikers and helping with the occasional search-and-rescue.
The thunderstorms gathering around Smokeytop remind her of things she'd rather forget. But unfortunately, she isn't allowed to forget, when the effort to find a lifeflight plane that crash-landed on the mountainside brings in professional search-and-rescuers, including another member of the Hunt.
Iris just wants to stay where she is, especially now that she has a boyfriend. But Nate's past has just as many shadows and mysteries as Iris', and when the woman who murdered his parents turns out to be a traitor to the Hunt, both their lives end up in danger. It looks like they might need the help of the Hunt after all.

Full steam ahead on Camp NaNoWriMo!

Are you NaNo-ing this summer?
Camp NaNoWriMo has the same goal as the November "event" -- 50,000 words in 30 days.
That's not so hard, with just over 1,600 words per day.
Cut any big job into small pieces, and you find it's a whole lot easier to accomplish!!
I'm working on book 5 of the second year of Tabor Heights: A Box of Promises. So far, I'm at just over 9,000 words. Of course, part of that is the outline -- but hey, it's still WRITING, isn't it?
Good luck to everyone who's NaNo-ing. May you make incredible, amazing, entertaining discoveries as you spill everything in your head onto the page, going for quantity -- and leaving the quality quest for the revision stage!

Today is the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo!
I'm delighted to report 3,000 words toward my 50,000 word goal.
I'm working on A BOX OF PROMISES, the 5th book in Tabor Heights: Year Two.
This book is a collection of short stories about 5 dorm sisters at Butler-Williams University, who make vows concerning what they hope to accomplish over the summer. Those who don't fulfill their vows pay a forfeit of a pizza party for the others.

Will they succeed?
I'm not even sure yet!!
I have some good ideas, though... and it's going to be a very interesting session of Camp, and an interesting book, coming out in 2014 or 2015 from Desert Breeze Publishing.

NaNo and Cincinnati

What do NaNoWriMo and the Lori Foster/Dianne Castell Reader-and-Author-Get-

Together have in common?

(Give up?)

Camp NaNoWriMo starts tomorrow morning, June 1.
I'll be in Cincinnati at the get-together -- or at least, getting ready for the get-together. I have to deliver my goodies for the registration bags, then hope to spend a few hours working on my Camp NaNoWriMo story before activities get ... active!
What's Camp NaNoWriMo?
National Novel Writing Month -- but in the summertime!
We get assigned to cabins, with people writing the same genres, or our same age -- or in my case, I opted to be "surprised" by who I get assigned to.

It's encouraging to have feedback and some contact with people who are struggling like me to make a quota each day and get a book rough drafted in one month. And since I have 4 more Tabor Heights novels to rough out for Year Two ... and I have to turn in the first book at the end of August ... I gotta get to work big-time!!!
