EPIC Awards Finalist: Butterfly

"The Hunt" is published by Writers Exchange, of Australia.
Winners will be announced in March at EPICon in Vancouver, Washington.
For more information on the EPIC Awards and EPIC and electronic publishing in general, go to the EPIC web site.
What's BUTTERFLY and the whole Hunt series about?
The Hunt are children from another dimension, sent to Earth to protect them from a galactic despot, Gahlmorag, who has besieged their planet. He has demanded that the Firstborn -- the Talented children of the ruling, Talented families -- be turned over to him as hostages. To protect their children and the future of their planet, the ruling families have given them to the Hounds of Hamin, interdimensional guardian beasts, to take away to safety.

Problem: Not only are the children scattered across a wide area of the United States, but they've been scattered through TIME, as well. The Hunt have finally begun finding each other and making contact, and preparing for the time they will all be together, and ready to go back home, confront Gahlmorag, and save their world.
And time is running out -- the same freak storms that presaged their entrance to Earth are building up again, indicating perhaps Gahlmorag has followed them to Earth.
In BUTTERFLY, Bethayna Jaym remembers what she is a member of the Hunt, and prepares herself -- somewhat unwillingly -- for her duties. As she transforms herself from overweight, "invisible" geek to someone who can defend herself, she attracts the wrong kind of attention from the cliques and snobs at school. And one of the school's bad boys. Then she finds clues that someone close to her knows about the Hunt -- is it friend or foe? And then one of the Hunt makes contact and the resulting fallout turns her life upside down.
Stay tuned for the announcement in March, whether BUTTERFLY wins or not.
And keep watch here for updates on National Novel Writing Month, starting November 1 -- GATHERING, the 5th and final Hunt book, is going to be my NaNoWriMo project this year.

Sneak Peek: Chorillan #3

Isn't it incredible?
This is a Commonwealth Universe book, to be published by OakTara.
Stay tuned for release dates -- and look for sneak peeks of books #4 and #5!
What's BY FIRE AND STARS about?
Well, in book #2, SCOUTS' PRIDE, Kay'li Fieran and her father, Ian, left Chorillan -- and she left behind her best friend, Lucas Aidan. Lucas was old enough to become susceptible to Phase, the sensory overload that turns children into Wildlings. Even though Ian didn't trust the experimental treatment to prevent Phase, Lucas' father made him take the treatment.
Well, as you might guess, the treatment didn't work. BY FIRE AND STARS is the story of Lucas' survival in the wilderness of Chorillan. Being adopted and guarded by an Azuli is just the start of his adventure, and the lessons he learned that turned him into "the legend," and a threat to the enemies of Chorillan.

New Series Coming -- Tabor Heights Tie-in
It's done!
I'm delighted to report that the first book in a new series that ties in to the Tabor Heights books has just been sent off to my publisher, Desert Breeze.
QUARRY HALL
Women's Fiction
Adventure, danger, mystery, a little bit of the supernatural.
Appropriately, the Quarry Hall books start with Joan Archer, the woman who brought Tabor Heights and the Arc Foundation together.
If you've read any of the Tabor Heights books you know that Nikki James and Joan Archer are half-sisters. Their mother tried to kill Nikki as an infant, putting her in a stolen car and pushing it into a storm-swollen river. Joan came back years later to find out what happened to the baby, and stayed in Tabor Heights to look after her sister ... from afar.
Eventually, Joan became the face and guiding force of the Arc Foundation. Nikki works for the Arc Foundation, and she came home to Tabor Heights to evaluate the Mission for partnership with Arc.
With Quarry Hall #1: Joan, you'll finally read the story you've caught in bits and pieces from other people walking through the Tabor Heights stories: Jennifer, from THE MISSION; Nikki James and Brock Pierson, from FORGIVEN; Kurt Green in FIRESONG; Xander Finley and Hannah Blake in COMMON GROUNDS.
So look for the first book in the Quarry Hall series coming in January 2013, from Desert Breeze!

Have you been to Tabor Heights, lately?
No, seriously. Have you?
Because every day something happens in Tabor Heights, in one of the published books, I have an entry in the Tabor Heights Today blog.
So check in every day to see if something happened. With 11 published books and the 12th coming out in August, that's a LOT of activity in our favorite small college town on the North Coast, where sweet romance is always in the air!
When the 12th book -- ACCIDENTAL HEARTS -- comes out, we'll have a Cyber Launch Party at the Cyber Launch Party blog, as usual. BUT ... this will be a special launch party -- because it's going to be a New Year's Eve-type party.
Why?
Because ACCIDENTAL HEARTS is the 12th book in Year One of the Tabor Heights series, the FINAL book in Year One, and we'll start gearing up for the release of the 1st book in Year Two: INVITATION TO A WEDDING.
And when INVITATION releases, we're going to have a New Year's Day party.
Makes sense, doesn't it?
And the best place to find out when those parties will happen, and what nifty prizes you have a chance of winning, will be on the Tabor Heights Today blog.
And here.
But check Tabor Heights Today, first.
You won't be sorry!

Divine Knight -- the third Divine's Emporium book
New TODAY!
Published by Uncial Press, Divine Knight is the third book set in the freaky little town of Neighborlee, Ohio -- a mixture of Eureka, Roswell, and Buffy's Sunnyvale, but without the vampires or weird science.
Magic is there. You just have to know how to look for it.
[image error] And most of the magic settles down around Divine's Emporium.
The story starts at spring equinox. Maurice is now three-quarters of his way through his exile from the Fae realms, shrunken down to 6 inches tall, with shrunken magic, and stuck wearing wings Tinkerbell wouldn't be caught dead in. Four days each year, at solstice and equinox, he is returned to full size -- sans magic -- and spends the day as an ordinary man. This equinox, he and Holly head out to enjoy the Lake Erie islands, totally unaware that inimical magic is preparing to pounce on Divine's Emporium.
Angela comes under attack. Are ancient enemies she can no longer remember trying to destroy her, or is the attack leveled at the house itself, and all the threads of magic it keeps from unraveling, all the dimensional doorways and bizarre magical gizmos it keeps in check?
When magical books are stolen, Ethan Jarod (a P.I. with odd talents and a dark past he can't remember) joins the search for the thieves, the books, and the man who hired the thieves and gave them magic to get around the shop's safeguards. Angela recognizes him from her dreams. Is he an enemy, or a possible ally? And will they figure out the answers and what to do about their enemies before everything comes apart?
DIVINE KNIGHT is the follow-up to DIVINE'S EMPORIUM and HAVE YOURSELF A FAERIE LITTLE CHRISTMAS.

Return to Neighborlee, Ohio
[image error]
It's time!
Time to find out how Maurice breaks the curse that keeps a 6-foot-tall Fae shrunk down to 6 inches tall, with wings Tinkerbell wouldn't be caught dead in, and with shrunken magic to match.
Time ... to find out about Angela's past. If you've read the previous Neighborlee, Ohio/Divine's Emporium stories ( Divine's Emporium and Have Yourself a Faerie Little Christmas ), you might have caught references Angela has made, cryptic little remarks that reveal a bit of her mysterious past, the fact she might be centuries old, and that she once was in love.
But where IS the guy?
Now's the time to find out.
DIVINE KNIGHT will be released Friday, July 13, from Uncial Press.
And of course, what would a book launch be without a Cyber Launch Party?
Hop on over to the Cyber Launch Party blog on Monday, July 16, and join the fun. You'll get to ask questions about Neighborlee, Angela, plans for more stories, and get to put your name in a drawing for a mousepad ... or two or three, depending on how many people participate ... with the gorgeous cover art for the Neighborlee/Divine's books. And maybe some All's Fae in Love and Chocolate mousepads, too.
Check out Uncial Press: http://www.uncialpress.com/
and

And celebrate the answers to a number of questions, and some happily-ever-after. Guaranteed!
