YES I DID – I got a Mini-Me & Share the Love Contest!

Why oh why did I need an iPad Mini? If you think no one is asking themselves this question, I promise you that YES, one person is. Janelle … I’m waving! LOL. Not because I’m an Apple addict although I am. Not because I had this need to spend unnecessary money. I didn’t. (And I will sell my old one so it’s not like I’m duplicating). But the reason is this – portability and useability. I loved my Kindle, but the day I got my iPad and saw all those pretty bookcovers staring at me from my Kindle App was one of the best days of this reader’s life. (Yes, my life must be THAT lacking, LOL!). But it weighed down my bag, which hurt my shoulder, which is a weak spot from the writing, and it became a vicious cycle. Not to mention how much I hated typing on the big ipad. The separate keyboards sold for it don’t makeup for not having a mouse. So I read on it … but it was a very expensive e-Reader. And then came THE ANNOUNCEMENT. An iPad mini … really? Seriously? BE STILL MY HEART!

Yes, I ordered the day it went on sale. Yes, I bought the fancy one w/the 4G – because I remember how much I hated my Color Nook with wi-fi only and returned it. This thing is AWESOME. It’s so light I barely know I’m carrying it. And with the new way Apple links your messages – texts to your phone, IM’s, all show up in the same place – I don’t miss out on anyone in the family looking for me. Expensive? Yes. Indulgent? Yes. Worth it if you can swing it? I can only speak for myself. ABSOLUTELY!

Carly’s #WOL2 Begins on Twitter 3 PM Today

So what is #WOL2? WEEKEND OF LEGEND 2 – I write, you win. It’s that simple … OK not really but here goes!

As I explained the other day, WEEKEND OF LEGEND 2 (from here on out known as #WOL2) began as the brainchild of authors Lauren Dane and Megan Hart. ack in August they held a weekend-long writing frenzy, during which they gave away prizes, involved readers in the creative process, and of course got tons of work done. She’s doing it again, and now there are more of us involved. This is a TWITTER ONLY event so here’s’ who to follow this weekend on Twitter so you can have the chance to participate (more on that below!)

2. My goal for the weekend is 12,500 words (50 pages). I’m working on PERFECT FLING, Erin’s story (sister in Perfect Fit) and I will be checking in every 1500 words to keep me honest , randomly tweeting questions (what color should my heroine wear, need a name for secondary character, etc. — yesterday I Googled at what point in a pregnancy are women horny … now imagine if I’d just asked you all that on Twitter?!) and awarding prizes randomly – prizes will include Amazon GC’s, gifting books, an iTunes gift card, etc.) At every 5,000 word the prize gets bigger, and when I hit 12,500 the winner will get a full set of Carly Phillips Serendipity series signed books including an ARC of Perfect Fit which isn’t out until next month. If I pass my goal … big prize (undecided!)

3. All of us will be running random contests as well, so keep an eye on that hashtag! #WOL2

4. The #WOL2 contest will run from noon pacific/3 eastern, TODAY Friday Dec. 7 through midnight Eastern Sunday, Dec. 9.

A man came home from work and found his 5 children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn around garden, The door of his wife’s car was open, as was the front door to the house and no sign of the dog, walking in the door, he found …an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, the throw rug was against one wall, In the front room the TV was on loudly with the cartoon channel, the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door. He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls. As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel… She looked up at him, smiled and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, ‘What happened here today?’ She again smiled and answered, ‘You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world do I do all day?…

”Yes,” was his incredulous reply..

She answered, ‘Well, today I didn’t do it.’
