”Vil de siger, at de rent faktisk stemmer på øglerne?”
”Ja, ja,” sagde Ford og trak på skuldrene, ”selvfølgelig”.
”Jamen hvorfor?” sagde Arthur og gik atter efter præmiespørgsmålet.
”For hvis de ikke stemte på en øgle, var det måske den forkerte øgle, der ville komme ind (…) Nogle siger, at øglerne er det bedste, der nogensinde er hændt dem. De tager selvfølgelig fejl, tager fuldstændig og aldeles fejl, men nogen er jo nødt til at sige det”.
”Jamen, det er jo frygteligt,” sagde Arthur.
”Ved du hvad, kammerat? Hvis jeg havde fået en altariansk dollar for hver gang, jeg har hørt nogen i en del af universet kaste et blik på nogen i en anden del af universet og sige, 'jamen, det er jo frygteligt', sad jeg ikke her og opførte mig som en citron, der leder efter noget gin. Men det har jeg ikke, og det gør jeg”.”
