Ravi Nirmal Sharma He looked into the mirror in that desolate room, saw how smart he looked and smiled. When he turned away from it, he could still see himself - a grotesque ugly monster, with hands and legs turned in the opposite direction.
Ravi Nirmal Sharma Where do my ideas come from? Where does the gift of writing come from? Is every individual programmed with certain abilities and here on earth to fulfill a mission? Why do we forget our core strength and hanker after societal norms which we know are not aligned to our basic nature.
Ravi Nirmal Sharma I would like to be in a world without greed and desires. Where everyone is in pursuit of excellence and people live peacefully and joyously. In this world I will write fiction that will inspire people to be more than themselves. In short my world begins from spiritual nirvana achieved by every living soul in this planet.
Ravi Nirmal Sharma Ha ha! Whatever you cant do in real life, you can do as a writer.

I mean speak up when you can be tongue tied.

Mouth impressive dialogues when the introvert in you has anxiety issues dealing with people.

Influence, inspire and change people's mindsets with words when you cannot do this with a single person in real life.

Create your own reality and sometimes see it come alive as many science fiction writers have realized.

Have a high Imaginary Quotient the like of which is rare.

Be surprised by what made you write what you wrote. You really doubt you were really capable of that brilliance and yet it stares at you. Did you write or did your muse write it. Keep wondering about it.

Enjoy being a good listener instead of a compulsive talker.

Observe and absorb people's traits and motives of which, even they are not aware of.

Enjoy the fruits of an incisive observation of human nature and enjoy it secretly.

Play God in the imaginary world you create.

Reach out to thousands of people because of the worth of your words.
Ravi Nirmal Sharma Life has so many average people. And yet we say humans have infinite potential. Where is it then?

Sometimes it is just a matter of timing and clicking. Sometimes it erupts when we look within and introspect. Sometimes it happens when we get down from the assembly lines on which our education invariably places us.

Whenever that happens, magic happens. A kind of magic that looks unbelievable.

The current book on which we are working is about such a transformation of ordinary people into super heroes.
Ravi Nirmal Sharma My writing came from angst of being rejected at many levels. Average looks. Average physique. Average academics. Nothing to show in the extra-curricular activities. Like every teenager, I did many things to impress people, but fell flat on my face. Until I realized that in being a jack of all trades I was becoming a master of other people's fun. Studies were a must and so I asked what was the one thing I could really do well in place of - Body building, marathon running, poetry writing, vocal music, guitar playing, cycling, badminton, aping actors - the long long list of a me too.

And the one thing I seemed to be good at was writing. I mean above average. So I said only writing from today. Nothing else. And the rest is the story (let's see if I can add his in front of story).
Ravi Nirmal Sharma I am currently working with my son on another adventure novel. It has a very fresh concept. It took a lot of time to polish as we had several false starts and had to rewrite almost the entire novel. Actually our Hero threw a tantrum and told us that he is not what we are trying to show him. In other words he came alive and what we wrote didn't fit to the sudden soul and form he transformed into. The guy could have woken up earlier but chose to do so in the end.

But yes, the experience was delightful and taught us a lesson or two. Authors aren't Gods who can manipulate their characters any which way. Sometimes their is a twist in the plot and the author becomes the puppet of the characters.

Had fun being played on rather than the ones who play around! Lols!
Ravi Nirmal Sharma Please do not seek perfection on day zero. If that were so, Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bacchan, Amir Khan would never have dared to be actors. Look at their evolution from what they were to what they are.

Art is about timing. If you have a great story to tell and it catches the imagination of the audience then they will be kinder to the lack of polish in your work. Focus on brilliant ideas and concepts rather than too much on the form. That develops as you take more steps in your journey and get better and better.

Have an ideal but never compare your writing with the Gods of literature. They too began like you and had their falls before they reached the peak. So write, write and write. And then one day everything falls into place.
Ravi Nirmal Sharma I do the most mundane things of life. Like repairing broken down things, cleaning tables and my cluttered space, making food and generally spend a lot of my creative time on less worthy things. All this while, in my head plays this track: What are you doing with your life? What are you doing with your gift?

I let frustration build within me. The idea is to keep doing the mundane till the mind revolts and cant have any more of the punishment and sends me straight to the writer's desk.
