M.J. Evans The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing. -Walt Disney
M.J. Evans Because I love Fantasy, I would love to go to Hogwarts. I would like to ride the centaurs through the forest...and maybe even teach riding lessons to the other students!
M.J. Evans The black water swirled in a clockwise direction. Anything that entered was never seen again.
M.J. Evans I am reading books that will further my research for the story I plan to write when I finish "The Centaur Chronicles." (I'm currently writing the third book of the four so, of course I will be doing a lot of reading and re-reading of that manuscript!)

So, with that in mind, my list includes:
The Eighty-Dollar Champion
Horses at Work
Seabiscuit
Anything I can find about the time period from 1912 to 1915
M.J. Evans My maternal grandfather was a minister in the Methodist faith during the great depression of the 1930's. When my mother was only 4, her father deserted my grandmother and the four young daughters. I know he changed his name and died in 1978 in California. His life, and what became of him would be a fun plot!
M.J. Evans Dear Joanne,
The Lord of Celestia, Urijah, got his name from the word Hebrew Urim word which means "Light" and Jehovah which means "Lord." Thus, his name means to me, "Lord of the Light." He is the Jesus figure in the story. The other names do not have a special meaning. I just make up names by taking scrabble letters and moving them around until I get a name I like. I am so glad that you are loving the trilogy. When you finish, I think you will love my new series, The Centaur Chronicles. The first is titled: The Stone of Mercy.
M.J. Evans Dear Emily, I am so sorry to be slow writing back. I have been buried with the work of getting my newest book done. I am so excited to read that you love "In the Heart of a Mustang." To answer your question: I don't even start writing a book until I have the whole story figured out in my head. Once I have the plot and the characters, I sit down and start writing. That isn't to say that I don't make changes as I go along. Sometimes a new idea will occur to me and I will make a minor shift in my story...but those are always only minor. Please keep me posted on how you are doing with your reading. Love to you. M.J. Evans
M.J. Evans I know a little trick that always works: I never quit writing at the end of a chapter. I don't even quit at the end of a paragraph! I quit writing mid-sentence. Then, when I turn my computer back on, I already have a start and just go from there.
M.J. Evans First, I LOVE getting letters from my readers. They make my day, week, month! Second, I LOVE getting to use my imagination when I work. Sometimes, my imaginary world that I create in my books is better than the real world.
M.J. Evans Work, work, work. And don't give up! Your writing will get better the more you do it.
M.J. Evans I am currently working on a YA novel titled: "In the Heart of a Mustang." If you love horses, you are going to love this book! I am excited about it!
M.J. Evans Most of my stories are horse related. I own three horses and am passionate about riding. I compete in Dressage. My horses live in my backyard so I spend a lot of time with them. They inspire me to write! Often, I will come up with an idea or a twist in a plot while I am riding on the beautiful trails in the Colorado mountains.
M.J. Evans My most recent book, "The Rising Mist," is the final book of "The Mist Trilogy." The entire trilogy was in my head at the same time but took years to get down on paper. Of course, as I write, new aspects to the story and embellishments are added.
