100%. Just started next year's installment. It will continue the toymaker story arc from Toyland. I typically post updates on bertauski.com. Glad to have you along for the ride, Jason.

I've been teaching horticulture for the past 18 years. Landscape design, irrigation, construction, turf, insects, etc. If fact, I started writing professionally after publishing industry articles led to two textbooks on landscape design and a gardening column for the Charleston area Post and Courier (which I still do today). Fiction was a fluke I stumbled into 10 years ago.

Trista, yes there will! My writing schedule got behind in 2015 and caused me to miss this year's addition. However, I'll be starting on 2016's release very soon, the working title is Humbug: The Unwinding of Ebeneezer Scrooge.

Wonderful! I've enjoyed returning to the Socket Greeny characters for a prequel novella that I'll be releasing in the next couple of months. Drayton will soon follow. Glad to have you along...

Great! I'm going to release Seeds of Foreverland in a couple weeks. It's a prequel novella that I'll set FREE.

Yes! I've been getting a lot of inquiries about Drayton. I hate that I've put him off so long but I've spent the last couple of years finishing the Foreverland and Halfskin stories. I have two novellas on the table right now but Drayton will return in 2016. And I'm planning it to be a full-length novel. Stay posted by signing up for my newsletter if you haven't done so already... bertauski.com.

Yes and no. Bricks is the last installment in the Halfskin series, but fans of Foreverland will recognize the merging of those two story arcs. The next project will come out of that merger. Now which characters make the cut, I don't know yet. That would probably be a good question for fans of both series.

I've been involved with three series for the last couple of years, so the story arcs are long ones. How I got the ideas to start them? I honestly don't remember. But I've always been interested in exploring consciousness in my stories, so it starts with that.

I don't know, to be honest. I write the stuff that turns me on. There was a time I decided to write a romance novel. I don't read romance, so it took some practice to get in the flow. But halfway through the rough draft, almost 40,000 words worth, I couldn't stop thinking about the next sci-fi novel I wanted to write. I dropped the romance right there and never looked back.

Write. Write, write, write. And enjoy. You'll never be a failure.

Give it time, the solution will come. Understand, the first solution may not be the one I end up using, but it gets me closer. I once told someone I fully expect to delete >10,000 words when I edit. They were shocked. How can you do that? It's part of the process. I think once you understand that they process involves lots of experimenting and a lot of failure, then it's no problem. The last book I published, Flury: Journey of a Snowman, I had written 3 endings until I got the one I wanted (btw, I knew it was the right one when the small hairs stood up).

The creative process is as challenging as it is rewarding. I thoroughly enjoy letting a story unfold and come together over a long period of time. And readers are an integral component of the reward. There is a great need to share my work, to connect my experience with that of the reader's.

Just started on the third book in the Foreverland series...
THE ASHES OF FOREVERLAND
This is a YA science fiction series. This, I think, will be more challenging than my earlier works since I'm planning to merge the Foreverland series with the Halfskin series. The characters from both series will clash in book 7 (at the least characters that survive). I'm in the first couple of weeks and the plot threads are many, but a few of the characters have already sunk their teeth in me.
I'm also keeping a journal as I develop this story. It will follow my writing process, how I come up with ideas, the title, the characters and how I refine them. If all goes well, I'll publish it for free.
