With the last book in the dark Atlanta series, I left the book open for a second novel, not knowing what that second novel would be about or what journey I would take my two main characters on. I sat back for a year until I figured out where I would take them and the idea came to me through watching TV listening to news stories just feeling where we as a society are right now. So the idea for the second book came from my observations of where we as people in society are now.
As I write science fiction thrillers all I have to do is incorporate this into a setting that lends itself to science fiction and make it exciting and interesting.

For me inspiration comes from every day life. It could be an event in the news that inspires me or a social issue affecting people. I personally only write when I have something to say, I don't write for the sake of it. So each time I have written a novel, and this is my third I'm currently working on, I have stepped back for about a year after finishing the last just to give myself time to get inspired and to soak up what is actually happening around me. I feel like I am building up a library of information and then I wake up one day and say right this is what my next book is going to tackle and I start creating the story. Essentially I'm inspired by things without being consciously aware but something in the back of my mind is taking down notes.

I am currently working on the second book in the dark Atlanta series. Its a series that is set in and around Atlanta in the not too distant future and mainly follows the exploits of two young characters in their twenties who uncover dark corporate wrong doings that have a huge impact on society and the community at large. I have always had an interest in corporations and how huge multinationals interact with those they serve. So this series looks at how a CEO of a major company handles a disaster and its repercussions.
The first book 'Intelligenz' looked at how a young black CEO of a tech giant handled troubles within his company. The second book which I am currently working on is centered around how a female CEO deals with a huge fall out at her company. The two young protagonists I mentioned follow this unfolding journey and uncover secrets. I'm hoping to have the second book out by the end of 2016 or early 2017

Write something that you are passionate about or can give a new angle on a subject matter. You have to remember there are no new themes in writing, everything has been done before, but you have to inject an added dimension or viewpoint. In my opinion this might sound strange as a writer, but whilst you are writing don't read other writers work because you can start to subconsciously imitate their style and become slightly intimidated by their prose.
The best thing to do whilst you are in the writing phase is to research your subject matter whether that be internet research or going to the library or visiting places where your novel is set.
Also enjoy what you are writing about. You know your novel is not going to be any good if you are personally not enjoying the story you are creating.

Just being creative and planning the entire writing process. Creating characters and seeing where they end up. Also planning competition giveaways to designing front covers, and figuring out a marketing strategy for a new book release. Those are the things I enjoy about writing.

For me I don't usually get writers block when I start a writing session. However, I do lose momentum in a writing session which could be attributable to writers block. I usually deal with this by setting myself a word goal for that session or stop writing entirely and come back the next day with a fresh mind. What also works for me is to write character dialogue to figure things out and get me interested and gripped by the story once more.
