Though I have never been to Idaho, I bet we could rectify that this fall with the release of PICTURE UNAVAILABLE.

Definitely meundies. No question about it.

You know, I admittedly haven't really dealt with a major case of the writer's block yet, and I think that's because by the time I sit down to write, I have had the idea for the story in my head for so long it's just itching to get out. I've been stumped a few times, or hit a roadblock in getting my characters from point A to point B, and when that happens, I'll take a break for a little while, watch some baseball or something, and come back to the page with a fresh mindset.

The fact that people I don't even know find my work and think that, just by reading the synopsis, it's good enough to spend their hard-earned dollars on and enjoy it. As authors, we have so many other distractions to compete against, so the fact that someone would take the time to read something I wrote is the biggest compliment on the planet.

Write FBR -- fast, bad and "rong". Don't worry about semantics when you're banging out your first draft. Don't worry about misspellings, sentence fragments or using the wrong "your". Instead, focus on getting the story out. Once you have it all written, you can go back and edit. You can change things. But don't get stuck editing yourself in the first draft. You'll be happier once you finally complete the story.

I am almost finished with the first draft of my next novel, "The Abduction of Sarah Phillips" which is about a girl who escapes from her kidnappers and runs--literally--into a teenage loner who is reeling from the separation of his parents. He enlists his one friend to help him get this girl back home while the kidnappers are hot on their trail.

I love a good story, so when I feel like I have a good one in my head, I find it impossible to stop thinking about it until I get it out on paper (or, Microsoft Word if we're being technical). It's like an earworm, a song you can't get out of your head. Except, it's a story and an idea that just swirls around up there.

It came about as a "what-if" scenario. When I was a kid, my friends and I would innocently sneak out at night. Never looking to get into trouble, but just hang out and walk around the neighborhood at night. Things seemed so different at night. So, I had the idea of, what if you snuck out of the house one night and saw something you weren't supposed to see? What if you witnessed a murder? Would you or could you tell someone what you saw? How would the guilt eat at you? How heavy is that before a teenager breaks down? Those questions were definitely at the forefront of my mind as I wrote The Treehouse.
