Goodreads asked Andrew J. Brandt:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Andrew J. Brandt Write FBR -- fast, bad and "rong". Don't worry about semantics when you're banging out your first draft. Don't worry about misspellings, sentence fragments or using the wrong "your". Instead, focus on getting the story out. Once you have it all written, you can go back and edit. You can change things. But don't get stuck editing yourself in the first draft. You'll be happier once you finally complete the story.
