I got the inspiration for Solomon's Dreams - The Hunting at Huntington a few years ago. I liked the idea of having a character who had dreams that started happening, but had the internal struggle of what to do with them. Then I went on a trip with my parents to Washington D.C. and I watched how my mother interacted with strangers on the subway and the rest is history. The first victims in my book were based upon my parents. I love my parents, but I saw how easy it would be for someone to take advantage of them and I quickly came up with the devious killers plan.

I have many ways I get inspired. I let my mind wander and if I keep coming back to a similar character or story, then I scribble down the idea. I do not start writing that moment. I give it a few months before I do. To make sure that I really like the idea. But I get moments of inspiration as I drive in silence or walk. I just let my mind drift off and daydream. Call me foolish, but you are never too old to daydream a little.

Do it. If you don't believe you have the time, start out slow. Take 5 minutes to write a few things. Then as you progress start adding more time. You will soon realize that you can squeeze in 30 minutes a day for something you truly love. Don't listen to the dream killers. If you want to do it, do it. The only person who can truly hold you back is yourself. Take a chance on yourself. No one else will unless you do it first.

The best thing for me as a writer is sitting back and allowing the story to write itself. It is an amazing feeling when you start to get to know your characters and the story becomes alive. I have had many moments when I believed the story was going to go in one direction and as I was writing a chapter, I was shocked at how it ended up. It is as if the story becomes alive and I am just writing what is happening. It's an unbelievable feeling.

I walk away from the project for awhile and start writing something different. After some time away, if an idea comes up I will return back to writing on the original idea. I try not to rush or force the idea. I let it come naturally. Sometimes giving yourself some space and time will allow yourself to see the story more clearly. It also gives me more time to get to know the characters a little deeper.

I am in the process of publishing a devotional book to help encourage people to have faith in achieving their dreams and passions.
I have started writing book 2 of the Solomon’s Dreams series. I hope to have it available to readers in late 2019.
I have another book that is written, but needs to be edited. I hope to have this book available in mid 2019.
