Anam was born in Paris and raised in London, however she's always remained very close to her South Asian roots. Whilst studying MSc Social Anthropology at the University of Oxford, she completed a thesis based on British South Asian culture, and that provided the inspiration for her debut novel, THE EXES, which is a Young Adult Contemporary Romance that can be described as a British South Asian Gossip Girl. As a hopeless romantic, all her work deeply centres around the thrill, beauty and magic of love.

“London was beginning to feel like a stranger, always shifting and mutating, refusing to stay stable for even a moment. My city was the lover I couldn't figure out: sometimes I woke to tenderness and warm kisses, other times to a cold, empty bed.”
Anam Iqbal, The Exes

“From the moment The Exes entered the scene, they took the internet by storm. Their refined accents, lavish lifestyle, glitzy panache - it was as though the world had been waiting for them.”
Anam Iqbal, The Exes

“I didn't want the evening to end. I didn't want to leave her world so soon.”
Anam Iqbal, The Exes

Anam Iqbal, The Exes

“I couldn't remember the last time I felt it was just us Exes together - not now that we always had our phones in hand, exploiting every moment and posting it for millions to gorge on.”
Anam Iqbal, The Exes
