Welcome To Making Connections - Introduce Yourself > Likes and Comments

Let me introduce myself, my name is Heidi Chance. I am a retired Phoenix Police Department Human Trafficking undercover detective who served 25 years. I spent over 13 years working as an undercover detective investigating sex buyers and traffickers and rescuing countless adult and juvenile victims of sex trafficking.
I am a sought-after powerhouse speaker, consultant, and nationally recognized trainer. Since 2014, I have traveled across the United States teaching other law enforcement agencies for the National Justice Training Center (NCJTC) of Fox Valley Technical College, Amber Alert program. I am also featured in the Frontline PBS documentary "Sex Trafficking in America".
I have a unique lived experience with sex trafficking through working as an undercover and having 1000's of sex buyers and 100's of traffickers contact me attempting to exploit me. I've had the satisfaction of putting these individuals in jail or prison. I even have an investigation I speak about, which is a record in the United States. The case involved familial trafficking, where the suspect trafficked his niece and stepdaughter as well as 5 other adults. The suspect took the case to trial which lasted 7 months, and he was found guilty on 101 out of 105 counts of felony charges. The judge sentenced him to 493,5 years. This case is featured on my website.
Since retiring, I created my awareness training website with a blog and I post and share about sex trafficking at Achanceforawareness.com. I have also created an online training course for parents and other community members to learn about the problem of sex trafficking and what individuals can do to help fight the problem.

Great story. Reading this just goes to show how much "life is a journey" is true. In the story Cynthia, Terif, and their friends take an adventure in Alaska not to be missed. Not only did I enjoy their adventure, but the pages were an adventure as well. Stunning illustrations and photos. I got what I wanted, a great story, characters, and illustrated pages.Show less

Kingdoms & Orders: The K Age

I'm coming dangerously close to finishing my first speculative fiction novel, which I hope to publish later this year, or early next year.
I've previously written one non-fiction book, Paddling with a Naturalist, but my interests are in writing fiction now.
I also read a fair bit from a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction. I tend to read in phases. I'll get into reading about economics for a while and then into science fiction, and then maybe over to literary fiction.
Cheers

I like to write fiction novels. I currently have a fantasy novel out on Amazon called The Companions. I plan on writing many more though.
I enjoy writing, reading and tennis. I don't have too much preference when it comes to reading, but I do read a good amount of novels and philosophy/theology.
Cheers

If this resonates with you, I'd appreciate your help. Also let me know how I can be of service to this community.
The book is called:
FRONT & CENTER LEADERSHIP: How Leaders Use Personal Branding to Stand Out and How You Can Too
Thank you for your consideration.

Hooray for Wisconsin! I'm actually not far from you. What a remarkable coincidence. Dane County hi-five!

I started writing my first novel when I was 12 years old. It became a fantasy/SF trilogy I finished in college, but it needs a lot of work before it's ready for human consumption.
In the meantime, I published a book of stories in 2013, mostly by accident. I wanted to see what the Amazon KDP platform was all about (at that time it was known as CreateSpace).. When I set up an account, I was asked what my project was called. Well.. I didn't have a project. Then I started thinking about some stories I had written over the years, and ideas for others I could add. Before I knew it, I had spent the summer (my only time for such matters) composing, revising, and designing the book. I was — and am — proud of the results, and the collection was well-received by family and friends. (They even sent photos of themselves with the book. How kind! Alas, I cannot link to that page of photos here.)
I followed this up with several other books, about various topics: The power of mindfulness (and a sequel).. political essays.. How to be a great educator.. and, most recently, a SF space adventure called Delivery to Nimbus X . (I'm writing the sequel to that one now.)
My new book is called Brains: How to Survive Apocalyptic Bibliophilia. It's about a woman named Nasha who is trying to build a library during the zombie apocalypse. She meets a young traveler named Dan, who swings a heck of a baseball bat, and is searching for some answers about a painful incident in the past. They have to figure out how to work with each other and how much they're willing to risk in order to understand death — and life. (No GR page for that one yet. The global distribution arrangement is in process.)
I switched from Amazon to Lulu with Nimbus X, because I dislike Mr. Bezos' monopoly power and how he treats his workers. (I refuse to promote myself on X for the same reason; I cannot stand Monsieur Musk.) This may limit my capacity to reach a bigger audience (and obviously my work is still available through Amazon), but it's important to me to release my books in a way that makes me feel good about the process.
I've tried for many years to get published by the Official Gatekeepers of Culture. I haven't gotten many results, and honestly I'd rather be working on my next project then spend all my time begging agents and reps for their attention. So here I am, eager to network with readers and other writers. Holler if you hear me.

Everyone who reads it loves it, but getting the word out has been extremely difficult.
Sherrie Miranda's "Crimes & Impunity in New Orleans" follows the dramatic story of naive, sheltered Shelly going to “The Big Easy” to prepare for El Salvador, but has no idea she will encounter sexism and witness racism as well as illegal activities by government agents.

Author, Sherrie Miranda's husband made the trailer for "Crimes & Impunity in New Orleans." He wrote the music too.

Review: Shelly’s journey in “the city that care forgot.”Sherrie Miranda’s new novel “Crimes and Impunity in New Orleans” puts the reader into a whirlwind of political protests, abusive police, sexist attitudes towards women, and “good old boys” racism in 1980’s New Orleans. Miranda’s second novel follows Shelly, the young northerner, as she quickly finds out that she “isn’t in Kansas anymore” while encountering a slew of picturesque, colorful characters. Reading her book makes you wonder if justice and respect for blacks, immigrants, and women can be reality in America.
In Book 2, "Secrets & Lies in El Salvador," Shelly goes to El Salvador to photograph Salvadorans in the midst of the civil war there. She becomes the keeper of many people's secrets & lies.

Hi, and thank you for the warm welcome- My name is Cindy, I`ll soon be 68 and I`ve read with a passion for all my life, and have recently begun reviewing, not only books I`ve read in the past, but now also ARCs. I`m writing from Germany.

I'm Naji A.K and I'm a novelist. At the age of 26, I felt a deep need to break away from the noise of the city and the demands of everyday life. For a year and a half, I lived in isolation, far from everyone I knew, immersing myself in solitude. During this time, I reflected on every aspect of my life—every joy, every sorrow, every lesson.
I watched the world from a distance, searching for meaning and clarity. Out of this intense period of introspection, my first novel was born, a work infused with the wisdom and understanding I gained from that transformative journey.
Nice to meet you all!

I'm heading south as soon as I can. I've stopped going out in the evenings: where I'm living, it's not safe.
Books are where I'll be for the foreseeable. Making friends would be good for me.

I thought I'd stop in here and say hi. I'm an author, writer, and editor. My latest book, What I Know About the Human Race, looks at love, life, hope, and art through various forms of writing: fiction, essays, poetry, reviews, and a one act play. My most popular book is a novel, The Fiddler in the Night. My website is: https://www.christianfennell.com/
Thanks everyone, all the best ...
I just published my new book, under a pen name, on Amazon, and was wondering about anyone's experience advertising on Facebook. I've made the business page, and now have the opportunity to "boost" this or that post. Is it worth it? Inquiring minds want to know, lol.
Thank you!
