Caterwauling.

One word to perfectly summarize the first 50% of a 700+ page book. That's it. That's all that happened. Even Slade/Rip was whiny.

1.5* rounded up because I could still finish it despite sooooo much that should have been edited, cut, or c

When it's good, it's perfection.

Most of this is pretty good. It's even more addictive than the first in the series.

But then there's the overly flowery, saccharine blegh mixed in that thankfully is very easy to skim through.

Throughout the series so

This was surprisingly better than most Romantasies. It's pantsed, though not too obviously. Except that there's no plot structure. The prose is only a bit flowery.

From the first ~30-40% I was expecting it to be one of those Romantasies where guys ar

“Could you bring me some whiskey and a body bag?”
Ann Edwards, The Nameless Women Project

“Fear is like oil, indefinitely saturating and irreparably staining everything it touches.”
Ann Edwards, The Nameless Women Project

“You’ll never know their names. You’ll never recognize their faces as a life that you helped to save. But after tonight, you might walk the streets of Seattle and wonder whether the woman behind you in line at the coffee shop is one of them. Or maybe it will be the person at the grocery store in front of you that is trying to count exact change just to avoid using a credit card. These Nameless Women are all around us, even if they haven’t been able to change their names. I am one of them.”
Ann Edwards, The Nameless Women Project

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
Mahatma Gandhi

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
Oscar Wilde

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”
Albert Einstein

“I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.”
Marilyn Monroe

“You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.”
William W. Purkey
