Janet W. Ferguson is a Christy Award finalist and the winner of the 2020 FHL Readers Choice Award. An avid reader and former librarian, she turned her love of story into writing contemporary faith-filled novels with realistic characters who feel like best friends. You’ll laugh and cry as the quirky heroes and heroines chase their happily ever after.

Janet and her husband live in Mississippi where they say y’all a lot, and she forces him to visit the beach as often as possible. They have two grown children, one really smart dog, and a cat that allows them to share the space.

We spun from the impact and landed (thankfully) on the lawn of a fire station. Our car was totaled. Maybe it was the wreck combined with pregnancy hormones, but after that, anxiety while in vehicles plagued me. For whatever reason, it eventually led to panic attacks when I drove on the interstate.
I’m an open person, so I shared my experience when it felt appropriate (or when asked to drive on the interstate, ha). Along the way, I met many other people plagued by either anxiety or depressive disorders. I wanted to write a novel that would encourage people with serious anxiety problems, but I was busy caring for my aging parents. In 2012, both of my parents passed away along with my mother-in-law within a sixty day period. It was a tough time for my family, and I realized that life is short. So I sat down to write.
Leaving Oxford is what came of it. God has still been able to use me as a children’s minister, a youth volunteer, and in so many other ways despite my weakness. Whatever struggles and weaknesses you’re facing, you aren’t alone. No matter where you are in life, you are still glorious and useful in God’s eyes.

I hope and pray that at least one person is encouraged by my story.

The Precious Gift

Hi friend,It’s icky outside in Mississippi today, but the Christmas tree gives a warm glow. This year, I am especially reminded of the gift God gave us by sending His son as a baby, and how Jesus put on humanity and went through all pain and temptation we humans face.Yet, He overcame sin and great distress and suffering as a gift to us—to offer grace and freedom and an invitation to be part of His Read more of this blog post »

“this world you will have trouble. But take heart. I have overcome the world.”
Janet W. Ferguson, Magnolia Storms

“Father, we’re brokenhearted about the loss of this little child, Emilio. We know he was ushered into Your loving arms, but we still grieve. We can’t understand why on this side of Heaven, so we ask for Your peace to fall on us. “We need You, Lord. Please strengthen us for the hours to come, Lord. In Jesus’ precious name we ask these things.”

message 1: by Linda

Linda Janet, I've been trying to get in touch with you. I lost your personal email address when my daughter unexpectedly replaced my computer tower, and MY email address recently changed to "lajediut1@gmail.com".

I consider you a friend, even though we'll probably never meet face-to-face, and it would be a shame for that to end.

Blessings and hugs — Linda J. Hall, Magna, Utah
