“The second reason - I don’t think I’m that unattractive. Alright. So I’m extremely ashen, with a jagged scar that splits my face in half from my temple to my chin. Then, there’s my disfigured nose and skin, which is like the texture of wallpaper paste (I suppose this comment is actually pretty offensive to wallpaper paste) and my crooked teeth, which would surely frighten even the likes of the Cheshire Cat. Really though, all things considered, I actually think I’m kind of hot – hotter than those Victoria Secret models for sure.”
Adele Rose, Damned
“You know what.” Adam said, his voice superbly controlled. “I think your last comment is the smartest thing I've ever heard you say. I can’t tell you how glad I am that you’ve tricked me because, if you hadn’t, then I wouldn’t know what I do know now. For that reason, I thank you.” At hearing his answer, Grace’s reaction, as was everyone else’s, was priceless. They were beyond stunned, although she couldn’t help but let slip a sense of curiosity. “W…what do you know?” Grace asked, her brow furrowed. She was as puzzled as she was intrigued. So were all the others. Adam simply smiled knowingly. “The fact that no one alive WOULD want to go out with me.” And with that, Adam didn’t give anyone any further opportunity to speak. Instead, he parted those gathered around him in dumbfounded stupification with lethargic ease, flicked open his phone and called the person who had appeared in his mind, before heading off to find the one being who had and would always have his heart.”

“When my friends are in danger,” he says, his voice sincere. “I will always be there to help them, no matter what.” “Sheesh,” I comment, catching Adam’s eye and making him grin harder. “I think I preferred the moodier you, not the soppy one.” And with that, we are back in business.”

“Clenching my fists, his subsequent snore emphasises my suspicions. He has been sleeping on the job. I put my hands on my hips and glide over to him. I have one intent in mind. Picking up the book next to his elbow, I slam it down on the table. There are definitely some perks to being able to manipulate objects. Adam’s reaction is priceless. “W…w….what? W…where? W…why?” He stammers, blinking frantically. One hand flies to his heart, which he clutches dramatically and he raises his other to his forehead, wiping his brow. When he realises who has disturbed him and what I have done, he scowls at me. “Why did you do that?” He snaps, rubbing his eyes. He yawns at the end, meaning that I definitely can’t take him seriously. “I was enjoying that dream.” At hearing his answer, I roll my eyes. Part of me is tempted to interrogate him, to find what he was dreaming about exactly. The other rational and sensible part wins, meaning that I thrust the book in his direction, winding him considerably. He throws me a sharp glare, which ends in a grimace. The book juts sharply into his ribs. “You should be reading NOT sleeping!” I retort, making sure that the book digs harder into his chest. I give it one last push. “So get going.”

“Adam on the other hand begins to choke on Jen’s stolen chip. It is Jason who saves him from further embarrassment by thumping him on the back...hard. The chip comes back up, only to fly out of Adam’s mouth and stick to the back of some poor girl’s greasy hair. I don’t know what is worse. Adam’s face when he realises that Grace is indeed standing next to him or Adam’s face when he realises that Grace is indeed standing next to him and is beyond revolted by the outcome of the entire situation. Jason and Jen are failing miserably at keeping a straight face in their amusement. The look they shoot Adam screams: “I’m sorry mate but you’re on your own.”

“On realising what has been said, for Jason, Adam might as well have bought out a gun. “No WAY man.” Jason yelps, before controlling himself. He nearly ends up wearing the meal for a hat, not forgetting earning some pretty hard glares – not that he seems to care. “Not everyone is as insane as you.” He continues in a hushed whisper, scooping onto his plate some very soggy and watery-looking peas. ”You can’t just go up to a girl and tell them that you like them, especially not Jen. That’s complete and utter madness. MADNESS. She’d flip...badly.” Jason concludes. “She’d flip…then she’d kill me with whatever was nearby and knowing Jen, that could be ANYTHING!”

“Jeese…is that really macaroni and cheese?” She says, raising her heavily eye-shadowed lids. “It looks like dog food.” Jason chuckles, throwing a lopsided grin. “You want to try it out on me?” he laughs. “I’ll roll over and be a good boy for you.” Jen punches him on the arm. Her reaction just makes him chortle harder. She’s barely made a mark. “Don’t push your luck Fido!” She snaps, before heading for the chips.”

“So…what are we doing in class today?” I ask Adam, hoping that my question might stir him into action. I also ask to satisfy my curiosity. Adam sighs, before copying Jen. “Oh…just the structure of a plasma membrane.” He says in a matter of fact tone. “Nothing too taxing.” My silent reply says everything. Oh boy!”

“At karate.” She tells him casually, shrugging her shoulders and limbering up. Her heavy, laced boots, which are neon in colour, leave marks on the surface of the desk. She doesn’t seem to notice or care. “My instructor is pretty badass. He almost threw me across two tables and a chair the other day…almost.”

“£500.” He hisses furiously at me. “I can’t believe I’ve spent £500 on an entire new wardrobe and a new haircut – one that I didn’t even want my I add!” As he talks, I skip happily, a dreamy smile plastered all over my face. I’ve had, without a shadow of a doubt, the best day ever. “I can.” I answer, my voice rising several decibels, as I lose myself, currently, on cloud nine. “I’ve loved spending your money. It feels awesome!”
Adele Rose, Damned
“You want my help or not?” I say, putting my hand on my hips and looking sassier than Rhianna. All I need now is a latex outfit, plastic whip and chain-mail lead. I know I’ve got him just where I want him.”
Adele Rose, Damned
“Well…I’m sorry to burst your human bubble, but I’m living proof that they do,” I reply, “although, if you don’t believe me, then by all means give the ‘Ghostbusters’ a call. I’m sure they will confirm everything, but make sure you remind them not to cross the streams!”

“Attack!” I yell, snarling at Adam, who stands there dumbfounded for a few moments, before sense regains the upper hand. All I need down is a helmet and a flag to mark my territory. Yes. I think, cackling like a maniac. You are being chased by a pissed off ghost with a nasty vendetta.”

“The area that I call my home is the kind of place that people walk in and out of it all day and night, but that’s mostly stupid teens who like to dare one another. It hasn’t got a sign hanging outside saying a designated number, a nice plot of freshly planted flowers or a chimney amongst other furnishings. It hasn’t even got a ‘crash pad’, although how you can define one of those is subjective I know. Most importantly, the place I call my home doesn’t exactly evoke happy emotions. Truthfully, it has a ‘gloom and doom’ atmosphere attached to it – not the best description to advertise on ‘Rightmove’.”
Adele Rose, Damned
“How dare you call me ‘it’?” It was my turn to point the finger, as I glide over to where he is standing and gibbering. “‘It’ has a name,” I continue, scowling. “It’s Clara and, if you ever look at me like that or refer to me as a thing rather than a human being again, then I’ll find out where you live and I’ll haunt you for the rest of your puny life and that’s a PROMISE!” And that’s how you threaten someone…ghost style.”
Adele Rose, Damned
“What is WITH this guy and impersonating lizards? Man. He’s not exactly David Attenborough.”
Adele Rose, Damned
“Didn’t your mother ever tell you that staring at someone in the way you are for too long is almost as rude as pointing at them?” BAM…WAM AND ALAKAZAM. It was out before I could stop myself.”
Adele Rose, Damned
“They say that when you die, you retain your memories.”

“Fate always catches up to you in the end.” They add. “It was only a matter of time. In your case, fate so happens to be in the form of me!”
