The book takes place in a boy's boarding school in New England during the early years of World War II. Gene is a young lonely boy who is introverted and intellectual, and Phineas being a very athletic, taunting daredevil. A war had began between them in the summer which ripped the innocence of the two boys wright out of them. And then, the search for A Seperate Peace has begun.
