ch 8 was thought provoking but also long as hell. mikhail had a LOT of things on his mind. now we're back in motion

So far I quite like it, it feels very humane and gripping. Is it beautifully written? Well, idk, it's not that imagistic or sensory, but that's fine. It has some nice collocations in Arabic that are helpful for me to review. Not everything has to be overwhelmingly lyrical. The one scene where Ilyas intervenes to save the two Jewish people from a mob of Christians, it reminds me of a scene in Midnight's Children.
