This book first came out in 2010, even by then I was conscious of the Bechel test. Not only have I not even SEEN one woman mentioned as a vampire, every woman (only three or four, of which only two really mean anything) is only referred to through a male character. Vlad's mom, Vlad's guardian (who's also a nurse, how predictable), Vlad's gf, Vlad's best friend's gf, and now there's the girl Vlad feeds off of. Ick

Okay, they keep using the "Humans eat animals, Vampires should feel fine eating humans."

Thing is, when eating meat (especially when it's necessary) it's the MEAT that's needed. You COULD take a leg or wing and leave the animal handicapped because it won't come back. Vampires just need blood, they don't need to kill, blood can be remade in a few days/weeks, you wouldn't be handicapping them.
