I’m on Chapter 10 of this book. Because I have no one to discuss my theories with, I’m going to put them here. So this could be a spoiler, could just be gibberish. Theory so far: Murdered man was testing contaminated water when he waved and talked to Jack. Person who contaminated water didn’t want the news to get out, so he murders the guy, and tries to stick it on Jack. Hopefully I get to say I was right!

Ok I was wrong, but not entirely. The guy who was murdered was still advocating for this land to be conserved sustainably (hooray go env. sci.) but the people who wanted to develop the land (the children of the man who actually owned the land) killed him as well as their own father FOR THE MONEY! (unless of course I’m wrong…)
