It's only for a day, what could possibly go wrong?

Feeling like it's going to be a close thing, so many balls in the air and only a quarter of the book left.

While I've grown more sympathetic to Kitty and Freddy since the early part of the book when the only likeable one was Dolphinton, I can't say Kitty's treating Freddy well at all. While there's some sense to her keeping secret her obvious plan to try and punish her real target, Jack, I don't see any reason why she's not upfront with him about what's up with Dolphinton.

It's hilarious that Freddy is supposed to be effete fashionable man about town, but he's the one whose dialogue sounds like a country bumpkin. Meanwhile, Jack has arrived!!! There's definitely something reminiscent of Wodehouse in this.

Bit surprised by how much of the last chapter was taking up by telling us how much of a stereotypical gay Freddy is, unless that's somehow supposed to make it more surprising when they end up together for real.

Can't say I was expecting quite the level of comedy this book is giving.
