Mark is a dynamic character in this book. He witnessed a terrible event and has to deal with it. From this he matures and developed to become a smart young man. He is not scared of anything and is quite brave. ankther example of a dynamic character is Ricky. He developed and matures as he witnessed all that happened to his brother Mark.

The genre of this book is realistic fiction. This book is based off of a true story but it could happen. All of the book is very realistic especially since the book was written many years ago.

Ricky is the side-kick in this novel. Mark and him are brothers and they do a lot together. They witnessed a terrible event together but they stand beside each other. Even though Mark is the main character, Ricky is there and helps Mark through the times in this book.

Mark is a hero character archetype in this book. He starts out the book trying to save someone's life and being a good role model for his younger brother. When things turn bad and Clifford kills himself, he wants to investigate what Clifford days before he dies. He finds the solution and shows heroism as he is fearless. He finds the dead body and is knows that if he tells anyone the mafia will hunt him done.

The unsympathetic character is Jerome Clifford. He is a New Orleans mafia man. He killed someone and hid the body in his garage. The sympathetic character in the book is Mark. I can relate to Mark. He saw a man trying to commit suicide and he risked his self to try to save that mans life by pulling the hose out of the car's exhaust pipe. He also watches out for is little brother and helps him in his childhood.

I chose this book because my Mom recommended it to me. She had read it when she was my age and she really liked it. I am continuing to read this book because there is plenty of action which causes me to keep being intrigued in the story. Also the other helps me engage in the book. He is very specific and uses a lot of detail so that you can imagine what is exactly going on in the story.

My book obtains a lot of flashbacks with a boy named Mark. The book starts off with Mark in a flashback with his brother Rickie. The beginning has multiple flashbacks but then it mostly stays in present time. The flashbacks are always about Mark and are his flashbacks. Later in the book there is not as many flashbacks and mostly stays in present time.
