As much as I like this book, the constant describing things by way of comparing them to obscure people is not only not very helpful, but seems like pompous name-dropping.

Just blown away how unlike anything else I've read this book is, though I do find myself constantly flipping back to the sub-headers to see the dates and how old Clare and Henry are in each scene. It can be tricky to keep straight since time is so nonlinear in this book.
