I'm starting to worry that this book is going to end on a cliffhanger. That would be bad.

Another thing Brandon needs to fix in the full release version of this. Oh my gosh, TOO MUCH INFORMATION ABOUT JERRICK'S MAGIC GYMKATA MEDITATION ROUTINE. I mean, yes, this is important world-building/magic system information, but it's the most info-dump-ish segment Brandon's ever written IMHO.

So... yeah, the biggest impediment to publishing this book is definitely the fact that Sanderson cut out the whole Bridge 4 storyline (including several of the same characters), expanded it, and pasted it into Way of Kings. I can see now why he'd want to rewrite the story without Jerick as he's basically Kaladin crossed with Simon from The Dragonbone Chair.

I finally realized what this book reminds me of: MAJOR Dragonbone Chair vibes. You've got the distant and half-forgotten threat of an ancient enemy, you've got various real magicians posing as innocuous people to avoid scrutiny, you've got a protagonist who starts from nothing, is orphaned, and is taken in to be educated at the castle... I could go on.

It may seem like I've lost interest in this, but it's just harder to find time to read it since Amazon's website-based reader (unlike its app) doesn't let you read anything other than Kindle-purchased items. Other than that, still very much enjoying it.
