Tamsyn healed Merryn's mind after she arrived. The plot at the shipyard was multi-pronged. While Bran worked the crowd at the festival Merryn was re-captured but had some of her mental faculties this time. She has the ability to be invisible and her uncle was selling her skills to the Guernsey traitor captain who was trying to blow up a battleship. There was also an assignation attempt against base commander.

Bran was injured during riot. Tam helped him mentally locate Merryn and they could mind talk. She led him to foil the French plot.

She is slowly regaining her memories and ability to speak. Starling was using ability to wipe her mind and make her sleep to keep her prisoner for some unknown task requiring her powerful gifts. Marryn can see visions of the future, summoned her horse from an unknown location, and saved Bran from being killed in Plymouth shipyard.

Bran arrived in Cornwall to a recalcitrant greeting from his birth father. His b-mother had not wanted to send him away. His birth sister may also be gifted but has been suppressing it. On second evening at dower house, he knew he needed to go into the woods to help. He found a distraught, confused woman there trying to hold off the search dogs. He carried her back to the house, but Crow came to see if she was there.
