I had gone through the example of Daryl Davis before, but this time - going through the videos of Anthony Magnabosco - made me understand his street epistemology - and how he builds rapport at first - and then uses a variation of the socratic method - in a partnership kind of way.

I've always wanted to complete this book and engage in its ideas and try to use the techniques taught in it. I had tried multiple times - had sometimes left the book - due to my non-habit of being a regular reader. Sometimes my mind would waver here and there - and I would end up buying a new fiction novel; thus abandoning this pathway.
But all in all - I believe I can do justice to the book this time :)

What I have understood today. is the best way to ingrain the teachings of self-help books is to try to practice them in my own life - and also to take it slow - write them down, practice, rehearse - see things which I didn't do properly - retry them another time and then continue further

Reading this book is really insightful - I read today about Parallel Speaking - and I literally remembered just days before when I did just that. We were having a conversation about Lonavala - and I asked what is there to do in Lonavala - and then started giving my experience
I had almost immediately after that realised my mistake.

Okay, so just went through the seven fundamentals of having a conversation, even the ones which would normally be impossible to have from goals, partnerships, rapport, listening, shooting the messenger to intentions and the walk-away. Each one of these taught me alot, also really liked how Daryl Davis listened to the Ku Klux Klan members to understand their beliefs and their actions, despite being a black American

I tremendously believe that at times I want to intervene on a person's thoughts and help him see the truth and change his beliefs, which in such situations apparently I find to be wrong. And at times , I stumble myself and perceive to grasp the other's intervention on my thoughts and entrench myself in my beliefs. And thus having impossible conversations, so as to learn ourselves, and also to help others is great

Before starting this book I thought why would this book be even necessary - Impossible conversations, what are they? But upon going through the descripiton, I see these type of conversations occur all the time - we have televised debates that just features people trying to intellectually vanquish people and a ritual admonition and rubbishing. Listening, understanding and then instilling doubt is the way to go!
