No real personal info yet, just context. I know squat about New Orleans in the 1800s so good background as to why Herriman's family decided to move to LA and pass as white, but sadly no first hand explanations here, and we've only just hit 1890, the year of the move, and Herriman is 10. Unfortunately the barrage of place names and similarly named people are just bouncing off me. Expecting good stuff ahead though.

Soooo dry. Picked this up cuz of a doc I saw based on it about his going thru life knowing everything could fall apart if anyone found out he was mixed race, but maybe that was all speculation. So far this is all on day X he went here, on day Y he went there. All data. No emotion. No feeling. Just bone dry chronology. Not sure whether I should keep going in hopes something shows up later or abandon it now.
