I regret to sayI just finished The Beautiful American. I would love to discover it again. It is a good "old fashioned read". The story line moves ahead at a steady pace - moving back and forward through time without leaving any gaps or over explaining. It is intelligent, interesting and its extended metaphor of the nature of perfume extremely interesting I loved it! STRONGLY recommended
