I can picture all but the main character so clearly in my mind

I can see why M.L. Rio’s If We Were Villains is compared to thus. It also reminds me of Micah Nemerever’s These Violent Delights. Something about becoming so close with a group of people or another person that you are separated from the world, and a kind of obsession with knowledge or learning in a very specific field. The language in all of these is like something I can eat. The narrators have similar feel too.
