Brenda is a very positive thinker. She always looks at the good in bad thoughts. For example, after Thomas said a bad comment she said, "Guess that's better than no hope at all" (201). This quote from the text shows that Brenda is a positive thinker.

There are many times when figurative language is used in this book. For example, after Thomas killed someone it said, "His insides felt full of poison" (196). This type of figurative language is a metaphor. It is comparing his insides to poison without using like or as. That is an example of figurative language being used in this book.

Thomas has been letting Brenda push him around. He is never doing what he wants anymore, he is just doing what she wants. For example, in the text Thomas said, "Shouldn't we go back and wait for the rest of them? She said they'll catch up" (181). This shows that Thomas is letting Brenda push him around.

Jorge is commanding. When he wants everybody to hear him, he makes sure they are focused. For example when he wanted to get everybody focused he said, "All right, everybody listen!" (162). This shows that Jorge is very commanding.

Newt is very wise. He gives the Gladers advice when they need it most. For example, in the text when the Gladers were about to turn back after a mysterious voice threatened them that if they don't go back they will all be killed he said, "Remember what Rat Man said, if we turn back we will be executed, and he sounded like he meant it. So I think we should go" (107). This shows that Newt is very wise.

Aris is very quiet. He doesn't contribute much in the gladers conversations. For example, in the text after he said something it says, " That was one of the few times the boy had said something in the past few days" (123). This shows that Aris is very quiet.

Teresa is very mysterious. One day she was with the gladers, and another day she was gone and no one knows why. Thomas also tried to contact her in his head many times but she wouldn't respond. For example he said, Teresa, he whispered, knotting up inside. She didn't respond" (115). This shows that Teresa is mysterious because she won't respond to Thomas in hher head, because that is the way they usually communicate.

Minho is a very responsible leader. He keeps everyone together and makes sure that no one is left behind. For example, in the text after they count all of the gladers he says, "Good that. We're all here" (74). This line from the text shows that he is responsible and he makes sure no one is left behind. Minho is a great example of a responsible leader.

Minho is very humble. Whenever the gladers call him the leader he denies it event though he knows he is the leader, and the creators put a tattoo on him that says "the leader." For example, in the text when Thomas calls him the leader he responds by saying, "Oh come on, you really think it means anything (the tattoo)? They're just playin' with our heads! (66). This line proves that Minho is very humble
