This is very rebellion war tactic soldier militant vibes so far, which isn’t really my thing. I like Cal more & more.Him and Chaol from TOG are 2 sides of the same coin, however Chaol struggled with switching sides because he selfishly wanted to hold onto his honor, which he deemed possible by staying loyal to his original cause, which is dumb. Cal struggles because his life has been a lie, which is understandable.

I am so sad. That was possibly the saddest thing that could have happened. And Mare is now insane which should make the rest of the book interesting. I appreciate that her trauma has changed her, I don’t like when books ignore the fact that trauma changes people, but I do hope she gets some humanity back.

Kilorn is lowkey right that she shouldn’t trust Cal, don’t get me wrong, but the whole confrontation comes from a place of jealousy not concern which is where the issue forms.

**SPOILERS**
Kilorn pissed me right off he has no right to expect her to feel the same way. And at first he seems to not, but then is like someday you’ll fall and I won’t be there to catch you. HUH. Bro HUH. Stfu rn. Kilorn=flop

I’m excited that her brothers are in the story. It’s feeling like Mockingjay in that it’s turning more into a rebellion tactics and soldier’s orders kind of story, which I don’t love. Hoping the fantasy element stays strong and it doesn’t just turn into a war story
