I just learned about Stella's daughter, Kennedy and after learning about Desiree's daughter Jude I'm starting to wonder how their lives will connect back to each other through their daughters.

When I put this book down it makes me appreciate my sister more because of what Desiree experienced when Stella ran off on her own, leaving her behind. I'm sure Desiree and her mother were devastated after losing her which makes me think about how I would feel if something like that happened to me.

Desiree's daughter is referred to as a "blueback child" (Bennett 67) because Desiree married a dark man. That caused her daughter to be darker while the rest of Mallard bash the idea of marrying dark and having dark children.

I'm going to research more about bi-racial relationships, which refers to Desiree and her husband Sam.
