So far the book has told me little about the Hispanic culture but the narrator has taught me about the time period. It mentioned that her friend was moving away to get away from people like her. This led me to conclude that many white people of the time were discriminating against the Hispanic race and wanted to get away from them all. This book is very good so far and I am excited to read the rest.
