This is still solid but missing that initial magic. The French lesson story struck me as very Borges.

I'm nearing the end of the first "book." The second "book" was originally published a decade later than the first, so I look forward to seeing how her style develops.

My excitement has died down a little. That said, "Breaking it Down" is maybe my new favorite short story.
