From what I'd heard, I was expecting a lot more of the book to be about Ce'Nedra leading the war effort.

I like the fenlings!

A repeat of the subplot from the first book where Garion was being stalked by a figure and didn't tell anyone about it. Now it's happening again, with an actual assassin stalking him and attempting to kill him, and he's not under any mind control, but he hasn't learned anything from that last time, so he's not telling anyone about it.

Lelldorin tells Garion about something that happened to him recently, and it's an exciting, swashbuckling tale of hot-blooded romance that should have been a book all to itself! I would have read it. Instead, here, it's just played for comic relief.
