I do not do contemporary. Last time I tried, it didn't work. HOWEVER, the excellent reviews make me want to read this sooooo... I'm going to try contemporary again. This will be my last attempt since if this doesn't work, nothing will.

Desperado *Lethal crosses fingers* I hope you enjoy it, Michelle! I'm not a fan of CR either but I've heard sooo many good things about Force. Luckily, her book Love at First Flight was a freebie yesterday. I'm going to read that first & see if I like her style before spending cash on ELaH....

Laura I think I could copy and paste what lethal jsut said.
Hope it's a great book

Bleh! It did not work for me. I wanted to like it, kept reading, but it literally was driving me crazy. Had to stop.

I'll stick to hot Highlanders, Rakes, werewolves, vampires, demons, fallen angels and the rest of the hot alpha men that are far from real life.

Naw... you'll probably like it. I just didn't. All the other reviewers liked it or loved it. It's probably just me.

I need the book to be unbelievable so when the book IS unbelievable, I won't cringe! LOL.. that made total sense right?

Catherine Have you tried Victoria Dahl? I am not a fan of contemporaries either, but she makes the short list that I'll make an exception for.

Michelle, the Bookshelf Stalker Really? Which ones do you recommend?

message 11: by Catherine (new)

Catherine She's only got four contemps out so far. She also writes historicals (loved A Rake's Guide To Pleasure) as well. I'd recommend trying out the Tumble Creek trilogy.

The 1st book of the Tumble Creek series is available on PBS so I ordered it. Easy enough!

Catherine I hope your taste is similar to mine in this case. I've got my fingers crossed that this isn't one of those books where we're polar opposites.

It's okay if we go "polar" on this one. That is the great part about being a fast reader, if you don't like a book, it isn't alot of time lost. However, I'm hopeful. I did read a wonderful YA contemporary romance that I NEVER, EVER thought I'd love in Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

message 15: by Catherine (new)

Catherine I remember your updates on that one!

Michelle, the Bookshelf Stalker Catherine wrote: "I remember your updates on that one!"

It really is one of my favorites. I was honestly shocked at how much I liked it.

message 17: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Because it was a contemporary or because it was a YA?

Michelle, the Bookshelf Stalker Catherine wrote: "Because it was a contemporary or because it was a YA?"

Because it is contemporary! I've been known to love a few YA books.

Catherine I'm always amazed when I like contemps as well. There are definitely some authors in that area that work for me though. It's just hard for me to find them.

Too bad I didn't know you were going to order it! I have an unpostable of that book and would have mailed it to you (as a gift.)

Have any of you guys tried Julie James? She's my most recent favorite contemporary author. Her books are funny and the plots are so tight! (The author used to be a lawyer and her books have laywers or law enforcement people on them.)

I just cancelled it. The PBS person didn't accept it yet so I was able to cancel it.

A former lawyer with a sense of humor. NOT POSSIBLE!

Desperado I agree with Catherine. Like you, I'm not a fan of CR but I love the Tumble Creek series. I'm actually planning on reading the first book-Talk Me Down-this month. Yes, I read the series out of order. No, I don't feel bad at all.

I haven't read JJ but I think I have one of her books on my TBR shelf. Um...Something About You I think.

Well I'm sold on the Tumble Creek book 1. I'm willing to give it a try. I'm so tired right now, you could sell be a bridge and I'd be buying.

message 25: by Desperado (new)

Desperado LOL! Well if you decide to read it this month, I'm more than happy to read it with you. If not, no problem. ;-)

I've heard a lot about her recently. I've been debating giving her a try.
