"Photography is the death of painting. Elsner inverts the statement, but questioning photography's promise of reality. Other than Gerhard Richter (photo painting) he redraws photographs using multi-coloured hatching. He reuses this technique rendering famous paintings in a blurred way that lets us see and understand them anew.

Der dritte und letzte Artikel vor dem Katalogteil geht auf Elsners großflächigen Aquarelle ein. Auch hier bleibt er dem Motto der Ausstellung treu mit größter Präzision Unschärfe zu erzeugen. Mit lasierender Technik schafft er atemberaubende Farbräume, die kontinuierlich oder mit Trockenrand ineinander übergehen, und hebt damit Aquarelle auf das Niveau von Gemälden.

I was glad to see this exhibition. Slawomir Elsner's works with crayons and water colours are mind blowing. They demonstrates that it is possible to apply the greatest possible precision to create the utmost unsharpness of form.
