"The boat cut through the water, into darkness. It was the darkest darkness Call had ever experienced." Ok...so I guess it was dark. Like really really dark.

I don't know if it's me or not but this book might be difficult to get through. There are so many similarities to Harry Potter already and I'm only a few pages in. Maybe that will slow down once I get into the book. But passages either seem very much the same as HP or purposefully the opposite. If nothing else, this is a middle-grade book about wizards and a boy who lived. We'll see...
