What a reading rut I'm in. I keep starting books than not wanting to read them "just right now". Blah, blah, blah. I hate when I get like this.

I notice it is only with the paranormal/UF books I'm reading so I'm going to stay far away from them for right now. I hate when I'm this way since I'll read 100 or so pages in a book and then just stop.

Catherine I hate when this happens to me. It's horrible to have a hard time getting into my favorite hobby.

Keri I too was struggling with this Tami Hoag book and I just set down and made myself stay with it until it hooked me. Finally it did and now I can't put it down.

Iagree!

Usually I'll commit myself to finish any book I've started. However, I get in this book bad attitude (like PMS book style?) and nothing I read makes me happy. It usually is a switch of a particular genre that will do the trick. Right now, I am staying far away from paranormal since I seem to put down everything I start paranormal or find them blah to read.

Laura I love your reasoning! Book PMS!!!

I think we've all been there.
Find some lisa kleypas-can't go wrong with her.

Or isn't there a great contemp that everyone's been talking about?
umm...this one!
Everyone Loves a Hero...and that's the problem by Marie Force

Otherwise, I'd find something you wouldn't normally read to maybe re-find your love of pnr. Like aversion therapy-this book is so crappy, it will remind you why you love your normal genre

I have such a hard time with contemporary books especially contemporary adult romance. However, this one looks intriguing because of the rave reviews.

I found the perfect book for my recent Book-PMSing- The Duke (Knight Miscellany, #1) by Gaelen Foley . So far, it is wonderful!

The sad part about my recent blah mood with books is I seriously think it is the fault of Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning . After that book, any paranormal/urban fantasy book is going to have a tough act to follow.

Laura I agree-It's like all last week I wanted Shadwofever, and now, after Shadowfever, not much can follow that.

btw, I'm glad The Duke was good-I've read 2 of GF's other series and couldn't finish the series. Ive heard this series is soo much better.

I was like this after The Greyfriar (Vampire Empire, #1) by Clay Griffith as well. It's hard to come down from a super good book. Luckily, I have my historical fiction books to keep me happy until I find my next paranormal/UF great book to read. So far, The Duke is really good. My book is really old and the pages are coming out so I've been busy taping my poor book together this morning!

Laurie (barksbooks) This happens to me when I read too much of one genre, or too much "blah" of one genre ;) I'll usually switch it up by reading something entirely different. Doesn't always work though. When that happens I'll focus on tv/movies or my knitting.

I walk, that is my other hobby but yeah I'm taking a break from all things vampires, ghosts, zombies, etc!
