I don’t like stupid characters. Why didn’t Tennessee tell the sheriff that her sisters were in danger? He was obviously sympathetic to her. He could have sent a telegram to have law enforcement go see to the girl’s safety a lot faster than she could get there by train AFTER spending the night winning enough to get there. Or tell James ‘I will marry you if you save my sisters’? She is dumb.

This is getting ridiculous. I will allow you to play poker in a saloon, because a woman should be able to do anything a man can do - but only with my permission and me at your side because I am in charge - but also we are equal… as long as I make the decisions.
Look, either lean into the dominated woman trope or don’t, trying to have it both ways just comes across as nonsense.

So she had lemonade and a good chat with the housekeeper and meandered to the stable, but somehow heard what is obviously the beginning of the conversation the two men had gone off to have while she was in the house? Am I meant to believe they stared at each other, not speaking, for half an hour like Simms characters?

Immature heroines in spicy stories make me uncomfortable. I am not sure I will be able to keep going with this.
