The absolute cheek of Le Guin to spend an entire flashback chapter clearly meant to make us feel sympathy towards Shevek immediately after what he did, then to bring us back to the present just to have HIM feel like HE was the one who was betrayed??? Fuck Shevek and fuck Le Guin

Sevek's talk with Chifoilisk, and his immediate dismissal of potentially going to Thu or share his work with them all while lavishing in the most aristocratic and misogynistic part of Urras' capitalist society is a great example of how anarchists will often sooner side with capitalists than socialist states, despite their claims of being anarcho-communists

The apparent Anarresti view of illness as a moral failure, which is handwaved as existing due to their medical system being so good???, makes the fact that so far disability/disabled characters have been completely untouched narratively makes this book the perfect example of how even the best intentioned able-bodied person is still ableist

Handwaving how labour is divided and goods are distributed on Anarres with "computers did it right from the beginning of this civilization" is more than a little silly as someone who works with them professionally. Computers are neither infallible nor their programs without bias, unless Le Guin contends that anarchists are immediately without bias
