...really annoys me. Just as his use of exclamation points! And italics. I already lots track of how West escaped dangerous situations and the constant action is leaving me tired.

I don't know if the writer doesn't trust himself or thinks the reader's dumb, but to have a 5x5 grid to show where the protagonist had to step in order to pass a trap after saying "the sequence is 1-3-4-1-3" was lame
