One must reflect on how our contemporary prison system is a reflection, or a different form rather, of slavery. Seeing it in this lens allows us to truly ask ourselves if prisons are obsolete and also come to terms with the shocking resemblance between slavery and mass incarceration.

This book is amazing so far! One of the quotes so far that really resonated with me is that the expansion of prisons is simply a “geographic solution to socio-economic problems” (Davis 14).
