Oh, I plan to give an honest assessment. There's no question about that. I just don't look forward to being brigaded for years to come. That's practically a certainty, especially given my high profile. I'm still hearing it for only giving the first two Harry Potter books four-stars, and those were books enjoyed. Being the target of outrage is never pleasant.

Oh yay! I can't wait to see what you think of this, though I am kinda scared you will hate it too LOL! Either way, looking forward to your honest thoughts!

Thanks, Alexandra! Happy to hear you enjoyed it so much. I've almost only heard good things about this, so I'm glad to finally be in on the fun :)

Fiona Staples made this book stand out to me. I found this at a time I was just getting back in to comics at my LCS and I freely admit the bias of being here from day 1 making me see it with rose colored glasses... All that said, I haven't read anything exactly like it before or since and the creative team clearly cares about it. I don't doubt you'll see the cracks in it (and it's not ALL hits for sure), but I also think you'll enjoy how it's multifaceted. It's a family story, a space opera, a western, a political story, etc.

I think odds are that I'll enjoy it. I'm predisposed to liking liking Vaughan. I've only really disliked one of the many books I've read by him. Whether I enjoy it as much as people would like me to is up in the air. Frankly, people are setting impossibly high expectations for this series. Though, if it does meet those expectations, all the better for me. I'd be happy to be as much a fan as you are :)

Well, I was always going to read the books. They've all been on my shelves for years. Frankly, it's a wonder I held out this long. The battle was lost before it started 😉

Yeah, that's on us and I completely understand where you are coming from. This happened to me with a couple movies/books/shows in the last few years and it's always a hard one to try and dodge after all the acclaim.

I really enjoyed this series and am patiently waiting for the next volume to come out! Hope your experience is a positive one and enjoy it as well!

Good time to jump in. They've been on hiatus for a couple of years and are going to resume single issues this year and I'm assuming we'll get a couple of trades. I just finished the last few volumes and re-read a couple earlier ones so I'm caught up. Hope you enjoy the series as much as I have. It is a gem and better than most of the comics on the market today.

Yes, several people have said similar things, both that it's a good time to jump in and that they've reread the series. Honestly, I just decided to read it because I wanted to binge an indie series, and I already own all the books. Though, it's good to know that the timing's fortuitous, and that I have so many impromptu buddy-readers :)

One of the best comics out there. They writer and artist are coming back from hiatus this year I believe after pausing for about 3-4 years. I can't wait to see what you think of it!
