If this book were a movie I think it would probably be rated PG because there are a lot of things that little kids wouldn't understand like politics and why Alek's parents were assassinated. Also, there is a lot of fighting but nothing bloody so far.

I think that if Alek were in the Hunger Games he would get decently far but wouldn't win because although he can sword fight he isn't very fast and doesn't know what is edible and what isn't. He knows that he would need to make an alliance quick and would show off his skill with a sword in order to get a high ranking and possibly a spot among the Careers.

If Deryn had a job in the real world I think it would be a pilot in the Air Force because she used to like going up in hot air balloons with her dad before he died in an accident that set the balloon part of the hot air balloon on fire. In this series she feels as if she has to keep her father's legacy going by disguising herself as a boy in order to become a member of the British Air Force.
