Bartholomew told hettie that he had a plan to close the portal and to force it to collapse on itself. He said that at the last second she would jump out of the portal back into this world but it did not work. Bartholomew told her to wait and wait and wait and right at the last second he screamed at her to jump, but hettie did not hear him of the evil laughter of the faeries. she stayed in the portal.

As the door grew larger more and more deep, red eyes began to appear inside the door, some small, some big all of them terrifying. Shrieks of pain, agony and joy could be heard from both sides of the portal. as they would soon find out, both worlds were being destroyed by the portal.

Hettie ran to bartholmew when she saw him, but as she cam closer the door became larger and destroyed anything in its path. Hetties was crying as her clothes began to burn from the heat of the portals opening. Bartholomew screamed at hettie as she came closer to him but she did not listen, she kept on running.

The old lady gives them coordinates to follow to find Mr. Lickerish and they then set off on their journey once again. They follow the coordinates to the thames river. They find a small loading yard that was used for dumping the dead peculiars into the thames. This is where they found hettie... She was being used as a door to enter the faerie world.

When they have bough their supplies they find a train station and set off to a small town in the middle of no where. They get a rickshaw to take them to the edge of a prarie and from their they walk. They find a secluded cabin and a thicket of trees and bushes. In this cabin is an old witch that brew potions and sends them to Mr. lIckerish.

They go to a new city in london called New Bath. It is filled with secret shops, tunnels and alleys. It has many different shops and auditoriums. They go to a BAZAR to find supplies for a journey they will be taking.

Barth goes with the man to find his sister but instead the lady in plum finds them. She then attacks that man who is later to be found out as Mr.Jelliby. she uses evil magic and pins Mr. Jelliby high above the ground to a wall. Barth runs away and gets police officers. The lady in plum is detained and an evil leech like fairy is extracted from her.

Barth is picked up and is nearly killed when a man with a bejeweled pistol saves him. He asks barth if he is child number ten. He doesnt speak out of confusion. then the man asks if he has seen the lady in plum and he says that she was here just a day ago to take his sister.

A man comes into to see hettie and he begins to sing to her, she stays awake long enough to hear the full song but doses off as she sees the man going up the stairs to Bartholomew's room. He is already asleep and does not here the man coming up.

Mr. Arthur Jelliby has gone to the court house to sit in on an important hearing. The parliament must attend and he was nearly late. He got there just in time to see Mr. licorice get there late also. They sat down on opposite sides of the room because they were both in two different parties although neither were anti-faery.
