“Awakening in the middle of a prodigiously tough snore, …Scrooge …”. What a chapter opening! The very idea that some snores are tougher than others is a wonderful and true observation.

Dickens is so delicate and kind with his observations. Can’t help thinking of Shakespeare when reading him.

First time for me and it’s quite interesting how quickly Scrooge begins to take to his own heart what Marley confesses about how he, Marley, lived his life ‘wrong’.
